In all sincerity, I will be looking forward to seeing what the lab says this stuff is. I read a thread earlier tonight that has pictures of the item found and it's clearly marked "Made in Germany", it looks like it's about 12 to 14 inches long and around 2 inches in diameter. From what I understand Weapons grade uranium is very heavy, much like Mallory. A stick of Mallory that size would have to be heavier than 33lbs.
I will be anxious to see the results of the testing.. If it turns out to be weapons grade material, this is (without a doubt) an eminent threat and a clear and present danger!!
Any uranium is very heavy and dense; it doesn't matter whether it is "weapons grade" (i.e., U-235) or not. And while non-enriched uranium would certainly prove intent on Iraq's part to try to build an A-bomb, it's a long road to enriching it sufficiently to be useable. On the other hand, if the smuggled uranium turns out to be weapons grade, it would have allowed Hussein to build a working nuclear device in the very near future. I'd be very surprised if this was the only smuggled shipment, which might mean that Hussein already has his hands on adequate quantities of uranium.
