"Today's GOP is more ideologically coherent and more politically disciplined than at any point in the party's modern history--enough, in fact, to overcome slim congressional majorities and lack of a public mandate. The party's few congressional moderates are cowed and marginal; its leadership is almost exclusively Southern and conservative. Today's GOP is also an activist party, with a sweeping and, in some respects, radical conservative agenda for reversing the existing political order."

I wish.

It's all a matter of perspective ... he sees a "GOP court", i see a court with only 3 reliable conservatives. He sees tax cuts as some machiavellian strategy to keep money out of hands of goody goody Government. I see tax cuts as just giving back money that belongs to those who make it. If it starves some useless Federal programs and makes Govt stay limited, that is a bonus.

this Liberal thinks a Right-Wing Horde about to take over. I see hard-core Leftists in control of the Senate about to lose some of their power to a moderate/conservative shift --- if we win at least 3 more seats. If that happens, we can expect the same hysterics that attended the post-1994 election win of the House, the irresponsible name-calling and attacks that were on Newt & Co.will come back. If nothing else, the Liberals are predictable.
