My kiddo went to a " Little Ivy " and escaped still firmly C-O-N-S-E-R-V-A-T-I-V-E . It can be done, :-) We just don't send them any money ... NOT EVER ... and tell them bold facedly WHY , whenever they ask for some. It does rattle their cage. Daniel Pipes is fantastic !

Too late for my kid, who's firmly on the left, but I hope will one day wake up.

But I'll do the same as you about the money to the school, once I thought it would be nice to make some good-sized donations--not that this particular school needs it in the least, but I have no intention of ever doing so now. And I plan to tell them why too, but not till after my child graduates. (No use screwing that up.)

And Pipes is fantastic, I agree!

On the bright side, being exposed to univerisity brainwashing and Free Republic at the same time made me turn a hard right. I was quite lefty when I first started going to school. Read Chomsky, read Said, read it all. Then I got onto FR and immediately got pulled in, spent a lot of time in over my head, too. Freepers cut through the bullsnot with gleaming blades, let me tell you. They got me reading Ayn Rand and National Review... eventually the light bulb clicked on over my head.
