I have the article right here: it was $200,000 worth of Conoco stock. (Des Moines Register, 6-28-01 p. A1)

I know a thing or two about the history of Gotham education, pre-union, and I assure you "assimulation" never quite happened.
The arguments about education we have today in NYC have been going on since Dagger John opened the first slew of Catholic schools for the Irish and Germans way back in the 1840s.

Ganske's problem is that he has alienated the conservatives to the point that many of us, myself included, are just going to vote for whoever the Constitution Party chucks up there for Senate and Republican for everything else.

Caper?
Prank?
Shenanigan?
Secretly taped?
Leaked to a reporter? (with what intent?)
Taping done at Harkin Dungheap's staff request?
Crime?
Youth?
53-year-old former Harkin Dungheap campaign worker?
Harkin Dungheap takes full responsibility but his junior flunkie is shown the door?
Which is it?
If I were a liberal trying to make sense of this, I am sure my head would want to explode for the pressures of ambiguity. But then upon mature deliberation, I would figure it out: Ganske SAID he would ATTACK Harkin with a SMILE on his face, and I would know where the real hate crime is, and vote for Harkin Dungheap again.

Gretch, your mind could NEVER wrap itself around any of that BS and you know it. You're just being kind.

Oh...that's just a FANTASTIC idea. I guess I'll know who to thank when I have to listen to 6 more years of Commie Tommy blathering on...
He's a consummate liar, and dupes a large percentage of the elderly and ignorant into voting for him. What you are doing is tantamount to marking the ballot for him; not to mention the fact that you'll help Daschle keep his chokehold on the Senate. Ganske certainly isn't my idea of a perfect candidate, but he is about 1000 times preferable to that creep...and at least he lives here.
How you people sleep at night is beyond me. Oh, and please pass this message along to the rest of your "friends", from the REAL conservatives...who are smart enough to figure out not to cut off our nose in spite of our face.

Conley was a congressional aide to Harkin in the mid-1970s, but the senator said he barely recalls him. "I can't remember the last time I saw this guy." What with Iowa being such a big state and all,I can easily believe this. There must be dozens of people who live there.
To: Plunge Protection Team
Hey, it sounds like Watergate to me. Harkin needs to take full responsibility for his own campaign.

It seems a party member broke discipline. That means, "don't get caught". Comrade Harkin was most displeased, I'll bet. When Comrade Harkin gets his own gulag, you'll know where to find the offending member.
Maybe Comrade Bubba Klinton will be there, too.
To: GirlShortstop
Believe me, I'd love to see this guy torpedoed, but from what I'm reading here, they haven't got him.

We need a Thread that lists: "This is not your fathers Democrat party" 1 Torch 2 Condit 3 Trafacant(he is a dem)4 Harkin 5 Bill Luther(congress MN.) 6 Wellstone(Lies Lies) and so on. If these were Republicans they would be Toast burnt!!!
To: pointsal
True, but one must understand, rules of any kind do not apply to democracts, only to the Republicans.
To: VOA
Looking further into Mrs. Harkins business you will find that she was involved in securing a huge loan for failing Enron that was backed by the feds.

I am here in Iowa temporarily and these people are a real work that needs lots of progress. I can't believe how rude and stupid they are in the stores and on the road. It goes all the way up the line on the food chain, so this little bit of treachery is to be expected.

Iowa's school's teach the same liberal nonsense as every other govt school. As another poster pointed out, demographics are the key to Iowa's success in education (the same is true for MN, ND, SD, and every other relatively high-achieving state).
And, yes, contrary to popular myth, Iowans are among the least friendly people in the country, cliquish and small-minded. But they still should know better than to elect Harkin!

In Virginia, The DIMS forced out the Repub speaker for just this same thing....two faced double standards as usual ?
To: chemainus
Ganske and national GOP should have ads up on this immediately. If they wait, people will forget. Proven again and again. Then, after trapping Harkin in another lie, the theme becomes: a man who will lie about x will lie about y and z, as well. In marketing it's called the accepted presumption.

I see. And Nixon's staffers were older than 21. I get it now.
