# 64: I'm not counting on ever seeing that. Anyway, I don't begrudge them their Social Security check. They earned that and contributed to that. My problem is, it seems that's not enough. Now it's "free prescription drugs, no matter what". Do people who can't afford it need help? Sure. But doing it through Uncle Gov is only going to make it more expensive for all. I do have a problem with it being (just one example) some kind of blanket for all. Why should some retired millionaire sitting in Palm Springs get free prescription drugs just because they are old? It's crap.

I can't argue with that but I don't believe that is the case with most affluent seniors. You really don't think that they rely on Medicare do you? They don't. Most of these folks have private coverage that already covers prescription drugs through an HMO. I have seen no prescription drug plan that gives them to ANYONE for free. The GOP plan has a very high out of pocket threshold before there is any benefit at all and that benefit is far from 100% and it does not cover those retired millionaires you were talking about. I am not advocating any plan but just trying to put it into perspective.
