The Faa and Blythe groupings were the dominant families in British Gypsy culture throughout the past three hundred years. Although gypsy blood still courses through many local veins, the discreet family links have died out as the members have intermarried with the locals. The Baillie, Tait, Douglas, Young, Gordon and Blyth families all have blood links with the gypsy families of the past. Yes ---supposedly wasn't his father just passing through --some kind of traveling salesman or something? He doesn't have his so-called biological father's last name but instead got the name of his drunken step-father. I always suspected though Joe Kennedy was visiting one of his casinos or brothels and got involved with Virginia Kelly which would explain Bill's resemblence to Ted Kennedy and some other strange things about his history.
