I agree with you on most of your comments. I like Laura Bush very much. I like GW Bush very much as well. I do, however, believe that he has a serious blind spot when it comes to this issue. I realize that he has a great many responsibilities as well, and the Rats with their obstructionist tactics fighting everything he tries to do are getting more than tedious. He must really be a patient man. I have little doubt that had Bill Clinton had had to deal with the same thing in reverse, there would have been a lot of Republican congressmen gone missing by now. I admire Bush for that.

I also understand that the war on terrorism is the number one issue on his agenda, but the one thing that just makes no sense at all to me is allowing the conditions at our borders to continue to deteriorate while at the same time worrying about when and from where the next attack might come. It just seems to me that the only common sense thing to do until we gain some semblance of control over who enters our country would be to err on the side of caution, and if that p*ss*s some people off, oh well. Too bad. As long as we have little or no control over the borders, all the borders, we are vulnerable and it is hard to take the war on terrrorism seriously.

I agree with you. I especially agree with this statement:

"makes no sense at all to me is allowing the conditions at our borders to continue to deteriorate while at the same time worrying about when and from where the next attack might come"

I just think they are doing the best they can right now. It is a matter of manpower, and look at how just getting a "homeland" security department is taking so long. Unless there is a Republican lead Senate, we are in for even more stall tactics period.

But moving departments around, trying to make them more efficient, doesn't just happen immediately. Sadly, it took years to become this big of a mess. It is kind of like losing weight,.. it goes on easy.. is harder than hell to take off.

Lots of things to fix. But I totally agree.. our borders are a priority. I honestly feel they are working on it. Seems slower than molasses.. but if they are doing what I think they are.. in a couple years, we will SEE the improvements. It just can't happen overnight.

Which is why they wanted a TIPS program. And I'm SURE you saw the outrage at that!! So what do ya do?? What are the solutions. Tangible and real that could be done any faster than the administration is doing it?

There is training.. manning. It is a HUGE job.

That is my point. We can't imagine it is a simple task. It isn't.

We'll be watching this issue also. It is too important NOT TO!! But it isn't numero uno priority for right now (SP?). I'm not saying they aren't working on it.. I happen to think they are. Just MHO

Your post is right on the money. Captain Clinton steered the Titanic America into the iceberg concerning immigration. He proudly boasts that fact.

Now that the hole is in the hull, Captain Bush is trying to keep Titanic America afloat.

Stay tuned for part II.
