Or, they are doing that ridiculous trick with the number 5. I am getting increasingly sick of that stupidity.

No, their agenda is far more sinister than that. It's not about the numbers, it about who comprises the numbers. THAT'S the agenda.

Are our neo-con friends still flashing the number 5 around? I saw that earlier in response to some of your posts- what a joke.

If they paid taxes and weren't eligible for handouts - they wouldn't be illegal would they?

All "nations" are one big happy family.

The thought of that makes me want to go into the inner city, gaze into their eyes and sing. ?;^)

IF "President" Bush were to try to pass through a bad immigration bill, he will have his own core base to contend with. I can and do respect this President, but we will never agree with him on every issue, and do disagree with him on this subject.

However, I have heard this administration say things that tend to make "me" believe that 9/11 changed the way he feels about immigration.

In fact, we are starting to hear about College kids who are from other countries who are "whining" cause they are being deported. Well, if you are here "illegally" who gives a damn?

There is a very complex situation going on with regard to illegal immigrants. TONS of them are here, sending money home to Mexico. If that money were to end suddenly, do you truly think we could handle the influx of illegal immigrants trying to cross over? Will it cost us even MORE to try to help out a border country if their economy collapsed? Some experts say that would be the case. I don't know if that scenario is true, but I'm listening to the arguements regarding this issue. I'm not closed minded about hearing how we fix it. I'm just pretty dang against illegal immigration. My ancestors got here "legally". Others should do likewise, in fact, I would say 9/11 makes that a must.

It isn't this small little matter some people think it is (I'm not implying you by the way).. and I'm not saying I have the answers. I don't want us to set a precedent of every decade or so, forgiving the illegal immigrants and granting them citizenship. We disagree with those kinds of policies. But we realize there is a huge issue with regard to what is going on in Mexico, and what is going on here, and what will happen here and vice versa. It's the answers to the problem that need to be debated. Figured out for once and for all.

We had been against the Presidents policy when he first came into office. Before 9/11. However, as this is a matter we are very concerned about, we feel we are hearing and seeing a different attitude (tune) since we suffered that tragedy and found many people were here illegally, and "LEGALLY" even.

We also realize that our President has his collective hands FULL. More so than any President in history. He took office during a recession, and then, while they were looking at our security and planning our strategies for a new FBI, and better intelligence gathering, etc, we were hit!

Our enemies aren't just in Afghanistan. In fact, it all started back in the late 1980's in Indonesia. Known terrorist training cells were gathering in Jakarta. Then dispersing throughout the world. Into Africa, the Phillipines, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, IRAQ... etc.

To think this President has it easy is dangerous thinking in my opinion.

Then to see he has enemies within our own Government (The Senate leadership, VP Gore, Gephardt, Barbara Streisand :o).... Nice huh?

DO you EVER remember hearing Presidents Ford, Reagan, Bush 41, speaking out against the military actions of an acting President/Commander in Chief?

NO.. because they realize that to do so publicly after having served as a President and being "seemingly" in the "Know" in the eyes of other Nations, that to do so would DAMAGE our standing in the World. Weaken us. Sen. Zell Miller (D) seems to have said it so well yesterday. Did you get to read his speech?

So, though it appears I took "a long time" to explain why I'll give President Bush the benefit of the doubt on Mexico. Remember,.. my lengthy explanation wouldn't be the blink of an eye compared to what President Bush and this administration are having to deal with RIGHT NOW. ALL AT ONCE!!

Unlike Clinton who inherited stability and an economy that was on the upswing, President Bush has inherited a recession and a mess with regard to our National Security, and Foreign Affairs!! That's what happens when NO ONE is at the helm for 8 years!!

Lets give this man, who happens to be a "decent" man, and his quite able administration a chance to fix the mess we are in. Support would surely be appreciated at this juncture.

And lastly, First Lady Laura Bush has done a wonderful job. She is NO HITLERY CLINTON!

I know for a fact, I could never have stayed silent like she has, when people were trampling all over my husbands integrity. She purposefully stays out of talking about the Presidents decisions. She has been very good at avoiding doing so on every interview that I've witnessed.

She also is a decent person. In this house, we thank GOD for the BLESSING of this President and his administration at this time in our Nations history. We shudder to think of Gore as President, and amazingly, many Democrats have stated the same thing since 9/11. Even more so after his speech the other day. Un-believable!! Again, I cannot recall one time ANY previous "administration" spoke out like this regarding a sitting President.

When things are back under control, if and when he would start actual "Policy" that would be detremental to our own workers regarding Mexico, then we will speak up. But we aren't seeing that yet, and this thread wasn't about that really either.

It was a First Lady Laura Bush, feeding fest. IMHO

That is/was my major objection to this thread.

I'll be watching this issue. Feel free to PING me with anything pertinent to the subject of illegal immigrants. It is an issue we are very concerned about. We just want to watch the debate, and will decide when we have more imput...and "solutions". Right now, we are just adamantly against "illegals" having a "right" to stay, or to come here period.

But it is a matter that does need attention. I just don't think it is going to be under an "election" timeframe as you suggest. Time will tell who is correct, but I have a feeling I'll be right on this matter.

That wasn't how "then" Governor Bush did politics in Texas. We were watching him pretty close during his tenure as Governor,.. as we lived in Oklahoma at the time. Gotta run friend.

FRegards!!

Would you be willing to go to work for Tyson and others and except the same wages? Most Americans wouldn't and won't.

Amnesty = votes = remember the letters that x-42 was sending out to the hispanics in California so that they would vote for Boredom?

How about reinstating the program the Reagan came up with - Workfare - if you are on welfare, you have to earn it. It was a good program, only trouble is X-42 and their crowd came in and said it was bad for the people and etc.

Who wants to import them? I don't.

I agree with you. I especially agree with this statement:

"makes no sense at all to me is allowing the conditions at our borders to continue to deteriorate while at the same time worrying about when and from where the next attack might come"

I just think they are doing the best they can right now. It is a matter of manpower, and look at how just getting a "homeland" security department is taking so long. Unless there is a Republican lead Senate, we are in for even more stall tactics period.

But moving departments around, trying to make them more efficient, doesn't just happen immediately. Sadly, it took years to become this big of a mess. It is kind of like losing weight,.. it goes on easy.. is harder than hell to take off.

Lots of things to fix. But I totally agree.. our borders are a priority. I honestly feel they are working on it. Seems slower than molasses.. but if they are doing what I think they are.. in a couple years, we will SEE the improvements. It just can't happen overnight.

Which is why they wanted a TIPS program. And I'm SURE you saw the outrage at that!! So what do ya do?? What are the solutions. Tangible and real that could be done any faster than the administration is doing it?

There is training.. manning. It is a HUGE job.

That is my point. We can't imagine it is a simple task. It isn't.

We'll be watching this issue also. It is too important NOT TO!! But it isn't numero uno priority for right now (SP?). I'm not saying they aren't working on it.. I happen to think they are. Just MHO

You've had a considerably more pleasant experience. Everyone, including the order takers were jabbering. Except when they'd break-off momentarily to deal with some gringo. It was an unforgettable cultural experience. And, I didn’t even have to but a plane ticket for it.

How about this for a slogan?

“Support Immigration and Be a Foreigner in Your Own Land”.

I know they were doing it the other day. However, I haven't posted on any war threads since, so I don't know. I figured that I should spend some time on the immigration threads, as it is a very important issue.

I hope you have the proper permits and tax stamps for those animals!

These are the best loved cats in the world ... when I die, I want to come back as these cats ... they might just be God's perfect creatures ...

In all seriousness, I may not have the balls or sense of moral or patriotic conviction necessary to actually contravene legalities over the illegal alien situation, but I can say with certainty that if anyone ever did anything to screw with my cats, they would have a major freaking issue on their hands.

Mrs. Bush acknowledged that the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks had set back the agenda between Mexico and the United States, but insisted that Presidents Bush and Fox "are going to meet again to try to revitalize and refocus the issue of immigration."

Well, there goes the silver lining.

If this report is to be believed, President Bush appears poised to seize the opportunity to miss an opportunity.

It's not the fact that they are uneducated or unskilled, it is the fact that they come from a country where most disease that we haven't seen in the US in years, is still running rampant. It is the fact that they are transporting and transmitting it when they are touching the meats. Meat packing plants are not known for sterilty or cleanliness.
