WASHINGTON - Saddam Hussein has ordered top Iraqi military commanders and government officials to sign loyalty pledges promising to fight to the death to protect his regime from a U.S. invasion, The Post has learned.
New intelligence information out of Baghdad on Saddam's war preparations provided last night by Iraqi opposition sources revealed that the Butcher of Baghdad is taking brutal steps to prevent wholesale defections in his military machine.

- Every move Saddam's military men makes will be second guessed by Saddam or his henchmen watching over them. It would be nearly impossible for field commanders to make timely efficient decisions. They have to watch their back as much as Americans. They cannot fight effectively even if they want to.
- If they obey Saddam and launch WMD, they know they will be vaporized in a bright flash (a tactical nuke.)
- Putin has his men in Iraq working officially as Luk Oil workers. But some of them may be more than oilfield workers. They could be Russian intelligence/Spetznaz operatives and military technicians. They gather enough intelligence about Iraq and send them back to Moscow. They can also help boobytrap oilfields and upgrade Iraqi air defenses. Or equally likely they can sabotage such boobytraps and air defenses. It all depends on whether Bush will accept Putin's terms. I think he will.
- Desperate Saddam may be lured into a trap where he can launch a preemptive strike against American positions which turned out to be elaborate decoys. This will effectively kill any opposition against the invasion of Iraq.
These are what might be going on.

Having a little loyalty problem, eh Sadman? Or do you only THINK you see shadows behind every piece of furniture in your palaces?

Russia has operatives in Iraq no doubt. But the intelligence they gather will be sold to the USA. Putin will do nothing to endanger Americans.
Make no mistake, the USA is much more valuable to Russia than Iraq.

The US should construct a news set that looks like Iraq National TV. Then, during the crescendo of battle, they should blow the real place to smithereens w/B-2 bombers or cruise missiles. Subsequently, they should get authentic looking Iraq (exile) reporters to go on the set and then 'bogus broadcast' live on all domestic Iraq TV frequencies, that an internal 'split' in the regime has occured with a call to arms against Saddaam's remaining loyal forces, that rumors are Saddam has been killed, and that region after region of Iraq military is surrendering to an overwhelming invasion force of the US. All other domestic, enemy controlled frequencies should be jammed, rendered inert, or their facilities obliterated. This may give courage to the oppressed people of Iraq to rise up.

If the pink d-ashole thinks Bush should bend over and give it an apology, then it's been hanging out in the gay community a little too long. The muslims aren't breaking down doors to make love.

Does Saddam actually believe that a signature on a piece of paper will motivate anyone to fight to the death for him?
