I am so sick of this stupid charge about diesease being spread by whites in blankets given to the Indians. In 1763 the pathoilogy of how disease was spread was just as much a mystery to whites as it was to Indians. What a stupid myth.

It is a lie. In fact following the massacre of the British who surrended to General Montcalm by his Indian allies (as depectied in Last of the Mohicans) the Indians dug up the bodies of those who had died in the seige and looted and mutilated them. What they didn't know was that most of the dead had died of smallpox, and they thus brought it back to their own villages.
