QUITMAN, Ark. -- Lisa Vaughan says her log cabin in the woods was so peaceful that sometimes the only sound that could be heard was the trees swaying in the wind.
Now she's listening for lions.
In the past week, four 600- to 800-pound African lions believed to have some connection to a nearby exotic animal farm have been killed near this central Arkansas town. And residents say the terror may not be over, because no one knows for sure whether more lions are on the loose.

Come on guy, lighten up. You're among friends here.
I took some backroads with my wife in Kentucky last year and I mentioned that things were getting so rough that I told her that I was starting to hear banjo music in reference to "Deliverence".
You guessed it. We went over a hill and there was a sign for a banjo festival.
You can see the same thing in Texas. Without the hills, of course.

for sure, they have a great blue grass festival in Buffalo Gap, just south of Abilene, tucked away close to some little things called hills down there.

Thanks for the ping Nully. I heard this on the radio earlier. Between the lions and the alligators kinda makes you pause before going out for a walk. There are a number of big cat refuges in this state. Other large wild animals too. I think it has to do with the lack of regulation here. (which could explain the large 2-legged Rats that escaped a few years ago). Most of these places seem to be very responsible and doing a good service. Apparently this place that is leaking lions has some problems.

I realize that...but the truth is, I was born in PA. My relatives live outside of Pittsburg and in Upper St. Clair. I'm a transplanted Yankee, and my husband is from New England.
I love Arkansas, and it's wonderful people.
Truth is, I never met a Hick before, till I left Arkansas to go back home...It was a real shocker...Most of the people in Arkansas are intelligent, refined, and have a Southern Grace with style, good taste and manners.

" I just never expected to have to go to Arkansas to do it." ROTFL!

Sheesh! Now someone starts picking on my KY home! Look now, I'll have you know that at least our Gov. Patton and his sweetie didn't share the same DNA! (After saying this, I am now hoping that they don't take a blood test...)

I've never met a "hick" from Arkansas either.......I'm glad you found someplace you love....... we love both Texas and Pennsylvania......

"This sounds like a setup by some animal rights idiots trying to shut the guy down." Highly unlikely in this environment. If there's a PETA person within 300 miles, I've never seen one, and I suspect somebody would sic their hounds on them anyway.

I know...that darn Bill Clinton, let's blame it all on him! Don't forget, Hillary is a Yankee!!

I think billyblythe should be considered as a WashingtonDC boy...... that way, his stench doesn't affect any particular State.......how would that work?

"We got Outhouses...TRAILORS...Lions, Tigers and Bears! wink, wink" LOL! And New York got the Clintons, so they can't say that we didn't clean the place up some.

My family is from Cleburne County, and I find it hard to imagine that I would ever find a PETA person there. LOL!
On the other hand, I never thought I'd be reading about folks going lion hunting there either....

Hey, Hillbilly! I've read this whole thread and the only arrogant one I've seen is you!
You got a problem with pretty ladies?
Do you have a problem holding your wrist straight?
Cuddle up to that old Blue Tick there on the porch beside you, and try to get him to give you a lick.
Heck, it would probably be the first real kiss you've had in your life!

"Hey, happens all the time. I'm still trying to convince my wife that an escaped talking monkey broke into our bedroom, asked me to kiss it, and then turned into a beautiful, 20 year old girl. Sheesh, some people are so cynical!" Hmmmmm! I am trying to think of excuses.
You could tell her that you were spanking the monkey, No, that won't work.
How about, Hi Dear, I was just feeding the monkey, No.
When all else fails, RUN!!! : )
