QUITMAN, Ark. -- Lisa Vaughan says her log cabin in the woods was so peaceful that sometimes the only sound that could be heard was the trees swaying in the wind.
Now she's listening for lions.
In the past week, four 600- to 800-pound African lions believed to have some connection to a nearby exotic animal farm have been killed near this central Arkansas town. And residents say the terror may not be over, because no one knows for sure whether more lions are on the loose.

Oh, I had no idea they actually had REAL cabins in Arkansas - I saw so many busses being used as homes, complete with curtains flapping in the open windows...... I'm just too damn ignorant......... thanks for the picture and for showing everyone what a great sense of humor you have..............

You mean that your problem is the owners of some pit bull dogs. I agree, of course. Just pointing out that, given a choice, I'd probably rather deal with an 80 lb dog than a 400 lb lion.

When someone thinks so much of themselves as to post a "glamour photo" it tells me all I need to know. You are as IGNORANT as suggested above if your stereotype description of Arkansas is what you described above. I suppose you being from PA (Texas or wherever you CLAIM)is superior from the barefoot hillbilly from Arkansas. I get a little sick of being described by "SUPERIORS" who have NO CLUE about where I live. This all coming from a gal in PA? ROFLOL!

My neighbors still laugh about me finding a monkey in my barn. Hey, happens all the time. I'm still trying to convince my wife that an escaped talking monkey broke into our bedroom, asked me to kiss it, and then turned into a beautiful, 20 year old girl. Sheesh, some people are so cynical!

You are so sweet....you think that is a glamour photo? It was taken right here in front of my computer, but thank you for thinking I am glamourous...........
Bless your heart........

Shame these beautiful and noble animals had to be killed because of the idiocy of the braindead owner.

"The African lion is a very large cat, with males weighing between 330 and 550 pounds and females weighing between 260 and 400 pounds. It is 8 to 10 feet long, not including the tai." Yup, an 800lb lion would make quite a trophy.

There's no such thing as a 600 to 800 pound African Lion. This is Rhino, a 500 lb African lion I saw some years ago at the International Exotic Feline Sanctuary in Texas. This guy is HUGE! He has no mane because he is neutered.

Coyotes and bobcats can be the same way. Most coyotes will charge straight to the sound while in pairs they may circle around. The bobcats will do a slow stalk. Either way, being cross wind helps and the sound carries with the wind for planning a call to cover more distance. If they wind is right, I like to have the sound carrying out over an open feild with brush/trees as the backdrop, wind at your back or off the side.

Tales of Arkansas lions may be like those of Arkansas Presidents...subject to "slight" modifications (i.e., it depends on what the definition of 800lbs is...)

I don't own that one -- just WANT one.
This is the highest power artillery I own:
Winchester Model 71. Only chambered in .348 Winchester. A little light for lion, it's considered adequate for bear, but more knock-down than the .30'06.

Don't flatter yourself dear. I don't think it's glamorous but your pose suggests that you do.

I don't know who or what crawled up your butt today - but being from West Texas, I get more than my share of jokes about dumb dirt farmers, and the lazy life style of Texans....... I am apparently more intelligent than you since I am able to determine when someone is joking or being serious....... apparently that chip on your shoulder is pretty big......
I happen to have spent some time in Arkansas - it is a beautiful State, with some very nice people living there.....obviously I didn't meet you......
I most humbly apologize for any wrong I have done you or the great State of Arkansas......

Begging your pardon, I said probably that you were a yankee in jest. However, you seem very assured in your characterzation of me as a jerk. Having been raised in the south, I know what manners are. You sir, are not a southenern, as proven by your total lack of manners on this thread. As I know many yankees that have more manners than you, I can only assume, sir, that you, are a carpetbagger.
Have a nice day.

Sir,
I take offense to that comment. If you can read, I suggest that you check the earlier comments and see who invited the lady to the thread.
And sir, quite frankly any sterotypes you had hoped to dispell, you have reenforced them very well.
