Cost was about $280 million for general production, about $65 million for promotion, and they have spent I think another $40 million in post-production for the second installment, including several series of re-shoots.
So, the $860 million it has pulled in so far, not counting video and DVD sales, far exceeds the close to $400 million the studio bet on this roll of the die. Good payoff.
