Please see my posts above. No need for demonstrations. The outcry by the public worked. That's fast work. Floridians don't like to be played IMO.

Please re-visit here above. Breaking news... Looks like it was an NYC CBS job with possible national DNC implications.

Lest everyone see a grand conspiracy here, let me remind you of Occam's Razor...that usually the simplest explanation for something is the truth.

Networks OFTEN issue "do-not-preempt" instructions for affiliates during premiere weeks, and the reasons are certainly economic. They have advertisers lined up, pre-sold, and they have guaranteed those advertisers X number of people in the chosen target demographic "delivered." Further, the network wants to see how well the program will fare against others in its time slot. If a local preempts a premiere, the net has to run makegoods for advertisers and it gets no data on how the show might do in its timeslot.

Is this debate only available to CBS affiliates? Usually, debates are carried on several stations - not just the affiliates of one particular network.

Frankly, I'm surprised that a debate was scheduled on a weeknight during premiere week. That's poor scheduling by the campaigns. When you pick times for debates, you make SURE that the stations will clear the time before you carve it in stone.

Sounds like someone screwed up.

Michael

Great, at least we get to see Jeb bury McBride.

btw, I seriously doubt that Mcbride will thank you for this. ROTFLOL.

One more thing. If people are still steamed, here's CBS' phone number: You can call CBS directly at 212-975-3166.

WJXT was an independent CBS affilliate, going back to the first days of broadcasting. With relaxing of regs by the FCC, CBS is now able to own and operate their own local stations, that is why some "local" stations can pre-empt, and some can't.
When WJXT had enough of being squeezed out of its profit margin by CBS, they dumped the affiliation. CBS still can't understand why local programming like the Billy Graham Crusades generates more revenue for WJXT than CBS's programmed liberal swill.

the october 22nd debate is going to be here at UCF. the bad part is that the progressive council on campus is bringing in michael moore to "speak" on campus the very same day, meaning he'll probably get a little media attention. dear god. the UCF college republicans are planning a protest against this nutcase who said that bush allowed 9-11 to happen because it would kill people in liberal states...

Local. They could cut out the national programming since this is local programming which cuts to the chase of the 1st Amendment and political discourse in the community. WTSP and WINK both have had their slants against the Republicans in the past so this is not a suprise. I will not watch WTSP except for football because of these kind of stunts in the past.

Jeez...I don't think I get any of those stations!
I think it's easy to see though, that CBS does not want Jeb to publicly humilate Mcbride in this debate....we know it will be a slaughter...apparently so does CBS.

Exactly. It's curious to schedule a debate for a Friday evening when people are at the mall or all tuned in to 48 Hours.

I'm sure c-span will have it but it will probably be taped. As you can see above from a McBride email, Channel Ten in Tampa Bay made a deal with WEDU the public tv station here on Ch. 3. They are going to cover it.

There was a public outcry this morning by dems and republicans alike. Even McBride was mad. Now that's funny.

Yes, Nuke'm, even Free Republic has exemptions for televised sports. It is clearly stated in the FR Rules & Regs that freepers are permitted to watch the Clinton Broadcasting Service or any other left wing station if it is a televised sporting event. (sarcasm). How bout those Bucs last night?

Yes, it may very well be a slaughter like Algor's debates with President Bush. But, this can't be pinned on McBride. He wanted this televised in Tampa Bay. Must be the higher ups who did this without McBride's permission; proving the libs are even doing things behind his back.

There was a public outcry and by eleven this morning, CBS local made a deal with WEDU Public Television Ch. 3. WEDU is going to cover the Friday night debate. I just don't know the time yet. It will probably be in tomorrow's paper.

I don't ever watch CBS but when c-span covered the Reno-McBride-Jones debate, there was something wrong with the feed and it was on tape delay. I wanted to see it live.

WEDU Channel 3 - for your September 27th debate coverage "live". That's it. Fregards, FV

Michael Moore will make McBride look bad if film editors put all USF events in one montage. Jeb Bush never looks bad IMO. He holds his own and acts like the leader he is.

Not a Bush-bot but pretty darn close. LOL

I don't mind starting a "live" debate thread but I am sick of typing lately. If it's interactive, I'm in, but I may leave to go watch it and then come back with my notes such as "what a doofus" McBribe is. LOL

LOL, yeah, but the Communist Broadcasting System will do anything they can to slant the elections. I do have to say, that getting home at 3 a.m. after watching the Bucs was killer. What a great game.
