Open Your Junkmail - Marc Racicot ENCLOSING REAL $1 DOLLAR BILLS in RNC moneygrubbing letters.
9/22/02 junkmail from Mark Racicot

If you get a "pre-sorted first class" letter in a grey envelope from Marc Racicot - Republican Party Headquarters, don't pitch it in the trash with all the rest of the typical election season moneygrubbing junk. More than likely, there's a crisp new 2001 series one dollar bill inside.
Marc Racicot is trying to make current and former RNC contributors feel guilty by enclosing the following message:
I'm sending you the enclosed dollar bill to underscore the urgency of the final days of the 2002 campaign...That's why I'm counting on you to return the enclosed dollar bill along with an emergency contribution of at least $25 for a total contribution of $26 or more....I've sent you the enclosed dollar bill as a symbol of my confidence in your commitment to our party...
blah, blah, blah, typical 4-page letter of Repubbie BS.

The RNC aren't the only ones who do this. My (deceased) Grandmother gets (got) at least 7 junk-mail solicitations per day. In the last month, I've collected about 4 dollars from them.

I got a survey-type questionnaire last week, and answered most of the questions ... some I left blank.
Only thing is, I answered in a way I am sure they didn't like. For instance, the question about how we are dealing with the borders, I said "Close the borders".
On the question dealing with welfare, I said, "Scrap welfare".
The one about foreign aid, I said, "STOP foreign aid! Keep the money at home!!"
They had a post-paid return envelope and a form for a contribution. Needless to say, I did not send a contribution, just the survey.

Good deal. In six or seven more lifetimes, I might get back the money I wasted hoping the RNC would support their conservative candidates. Never happened. They'll not get another dime from me. The only reason they'll get my vote is that the democrats are slightly worse.

I just gone mine tonight. Thanks for telling me because I tend not to open them. I DO contribute when I can and I send as much as I can.
Don't ever make the mistake I made and send too much at once because then they move you onto another list altogether. I used to get letters requesting decent amounts, but once when I just got paid on a big job I decided to send in a large (for me) donation to help with the 2002 elections. I immediately began to get letters requesting these huge amounts, and now when they call they start way higher. It really makes me mad.
I try to do my part, but all the letters, pleas, etc. just anger me. I want them to win, I'll donate what I can, when I can, I just wish they'd leave me alone and trust that I won't forget them.

Call the straight. The 3 will show. :-)

I do not mind the fund raising letters. Its a hard job to raise millions of bucks to run and win a lot seats around the country. I would send the dollar back plus 24 more. :)

"treat myself to some blueberry cappuchino " Mine just went towards a triple cheese quasedilla(sp?) - new item at Taco Hell - only $1.58 - it was very good!
Thanks for dinner Marc.

Thanks for the warning! I usually get a dozen or so of these every week...I throw most of them out. Occasionally, I open one up to check out the latest BS survey, which looks like the one they sent me last year, and the year before that, and so on. Sorry, guys...Pavlov didn't raise no fool...

I do the first two steps but then send the prepaid envelope back with a message in bold letters like cut spending or get rid of the energy department. It's like hitting the Trifecta.

My wife and I each got one just yesterday. I laughed out loud when I saw the dollar bills. I gave them to my four year old boy and one year old daughter for their piggy banks.
Thanks, Marc!
