Calling these groups "patriots" is a bit of a stretch. Kooks is more like it.

I'd like to take them seriously, because it sounds interesting on its face. But when they start getting into these dogmas such as "The Constitution only recognizes laws that involve an injured party, and that don't compel performance" or some such, when anyone the least bit conversant with American history knows that to be utterly false, I just can't give them any credibility.

Calling these groups "patriots" is a bit of a stretch. Kooks is more like it. Every movement starts with kooks. Kooks are motivated, move into power positions, and push agendas. Remember, the druggies of the '60s are the teachers & executives of today - and look at what has thus become "mainstream".
Don't discount the kooks.
