people who "mind their own business" when a crime is being committed in front of their faces are craven cowards. And this isn't a liberal vs. conservative issue.
Remember Kitty Genovese? Some of these "mind your own business" folks would probably lionize the 38 people who ignored her pleas for help when she was murdered!

Yes, I remember that case. In fact, I had to read about that, along with a lot of other types of similar situations in my psychology classes at college. The more people nearby when a crime occurs, it is statistically less likely someone will call for help due to believing that "someone else will make the call."
People do this because they feel less compelled to help the more witnesses there are.
