So it was an act of courage when, in her Friday column, Star columnist Rosie DiManno not only defended U.S. policy on Iraq, but also upbraided her own paper for its arrogant dismissal of America's grief on the anniversary of 9/11.

There was certainly grief, but there was also pride, gratitude, anger and particularly that unique American resolve. WWI, WWII, the Cold War...this is a weird situation we find ourselves in, but we'll handle it.
