She then turned back to the child, balled up her fist and struck her six more times, paused one second and then struck three more times. One dozen closed-fist punches to the head in total while the four year old was stuck in a carseat.

You are correct. The longest clip I saw finished with the shaking and that was not shown most of the time. I would definitely call that a criminal beating. The shaking itself was bad enough.
