Just like the F-117 stealth fighter, your comment labeled 117 is precisely the stealth truth post of the day and will more than likely be ignored by the majority of those who believe otherwise, or can't see the forest for the trees. The 200 year loss of liberty was a slow and incremental process just now being recognized by many. We who regard liberty as something more important than individual lives, are not going to reverse 200 years of incremental change in an instant.

I believe that principle will be the ruling order, or we are doomed to failure. The change will be just as gradual back to the ruling principles of the founding fathers as more and more people recognize the failings of the two party system, or should I say the failings of man himself in the situation where he must choose between ruling power, and party politics, as they relate to how our government should operate. The rule now is to maintain power without any thought for the country or its people, because the people who believe in party politics will pull the handle, and after that you can do pretty much anything you want.

Thus, man has done nothing, and in so doing has allowed evil to flourish whether dem or rep it matters not. No one doubts the open evil of the democrat party, there are still those willing to except the underlying lack of principle exibited by republicans in order to keep a party in power that cannot live up to its own platform. Men of principle, men of honor, and uncompromising giants who don't regard a political party as their meal, or power ticket are what's needed from those in public office, but that is obviously asking way too much.

I only have a slight disagreement with Jim about the Dems, and it is this: they didn't "become" evil and corrupt. The Dem. Party, if you understand its history (and not the Schlesinger myth written to make you THINK you know what it is about) was created to AVOID discussion the immoral issue of slavery. Martin Van Buren and William Crawford feared a civil war in 1820, and thus developed a program to reward people through JOBS to in essence shut up about slavery. Democrats dutifully passed the "gag rules" in Congress that prohibited even introducing a resolution that addressed slavery in any way.

The Dems' origins were both fundamentally evil---because one way or another they supported slavery---but also because they inherently ENSURED "BIG GOVERNMENT" by the patronage system, wherein government would expand with every election as people gave away jobs to get elected.

The Whigs were no better, as they had no "official" position on slavery. Only the Republicans---for all their flaws---stated unequivocally their opposition to slavery. They may have advocated new "big government" programs, but their MORAL stand was clear and unchanging, just as today, the GOP is the only party to take a clear pro-life stand.

wita,

Thanks for your kind words. Your complement takes on additional significance upon review of your home page. Thank you for your military service and continued patriotic service to our country.

It is human nature to prop up people as heroes. I witnessed this phenomenon first in kindergarten, then in high school and now in politics.

Haven’t we learned that it is not the man and it is not the political party that matters? What matters are the principles for which they stand. And, the principles for which they will fight!

The difference between these two orientations is the distinction between democracy and royalty. It’s one reason we fought the Revolutionary War.

I fear that many of our fellow Americans would have no compunction about swearing allegiance to a political party and, if asked, would grant the same powers to a president as they would a king - as long as it was a president they liked.

Our forefathers saw the danger of this human inclination first-hand and did as much as they could to defend our Constitution from it.

Our Constitution is America's bible and guiding light. It was framed by geniuses - inspired by God. Adhere to it and America will prosper. Stray from it and we are doomed.

As to your comment that my post would be ignored, I don’t know. A mere 485 comments were posted before your reply. ?;^)

Best FRegards,
Barnacle
