"Don't you think it's natural to wonder why some user who claims to be somewhat unfamiliar with the process has to post material for the guy who runs the board?" Personally, I'm glad this has been posted as it's own thread, 'cuz otherwise I'd have missed it. IMHO, TLBSHOW is doing us a favor...why complain?

"vote the rats out this election!" Yeah, if it weren't for the Democrats, we wouldn't have the Patriot Act, Campaign Finance Reform, huge increases in education spending, bigger farm subsidies, federal funding for stem cell research, Permanent Most Favored Nation status for China, a plan to grant immunity to thousands of illegal immigrants, opposition to arming airline pilots, a crackdown on the free market in the guise of "corporate responsibility," expansion of food stamp benefits, a plan to provide prescription drugs for seniors, a catering to environmentalists with a push for the reduction of "greenhouse gases," plans for nation-building in the Middle East.....
Wait a minute.....those were issues championed by our Republican president. Okay, now I'm confused. Exactly how will "voting out the rats" restore the Constitution?
To: thisiskubrick
By this count (Democrats PLUS moderate republicans PLUS "most of the major news media") you've probably gone over 50% of the US population.. in effect calling over half of all US citizens "evil". If the shoe fits, wear it. Why call them "evil"? Because their actions lead to that conclusion. Since when has "good" or "evil" been "majority rules"?
With respect, I have to say that the real evil is Al-Qaeda, Islamic Fundamentalism, and so on.
You have certainly named some of the genuine evils currently at work. Your list is by no means exhasutive or relegated to foreign powers. We have our own domestic list of evil people currently at work. That is what this discussion is about; identifying them and defeating them peacefully, if possible.
If we can't even bring the country together, how can we bring the rest of the world on board in our attempts to root out Al-Qaeda.
Scr*w the rest of the world. If they're too blind to see the evil and take action against it, they are part of the problem!
Frankly I think the level of hatred between the Dems and Republicans has gotten so out of hand that it is damaging the country.
I agree. But most of the hatred nowadays I see filling the TV screens is from the Left, not the Right.
Our real enemies know the maxim: divide and conquer.
Sure. When is the last time you saw Tom Daschle or Al Gore try to genuinely "bring us together"? They gain their personal influence and power by dividing and conquering! For them, this War is less about winning for America than about advancing their own partisan agendas.
We shouldn't seek evil people for friends but sometimes it may be necessary. However, we have to realize we can only cautiously use them as allies, because once they obtain their aims they then become your new enemy. Any attempt to encourage a cozier relationship then absolutely necessary is foolish and self-destructive.
Their supporters fall in the same boat they do. Many are perhaps deluded. That doesn't absolve them from their moral responsiblility to do the right thing. It only exposes their foolishness and makes them a willing party to the evils perpetrated in their name. They become enablers.
And, of course: "United we stand, divided we fall.."
So, who is doing the dividing?

The conclusion, obvious to anyone who does not have their head buried in the sand of a "party", is that the only difference in many of these pols is their party!
How else do you explain GWB, whom I voted for, continuing the same basic doctrines that Clinton had? He has broken most of his campaign promises and is now conducting himself as though he were an emperor, instead of the head of a republic.
Flame suit on, but I'll stick to me guns on that!
Bump for bookmark.

All those who hungers for absolute power are necessarily evil, and for democrats, power is everything, and the only thing.
To: TLBSHOW
When I voted, I was voting the rats out. Trouble is that, so far, we just swapped one rat for another. Other than his tax cut, he hasn't done much to carry out his campaign promises.
Did you read post #963 by sheltonmac? The points he makes in that post are all valid.
I have no love for the rats. By and large, they are in favor of unConstitutional (and, therefore, IMHO illegal) activities by the government. My whole point is that the Republican party Pols in Congress are not measurably better.
To: dixierat22
From dixierat22 home page:
"Now, with GWB and the "War on Terror", we are seeing a massive expansion of the Federal government and the erosion of our rights to privacy and freedom of expression. That is not what I expected from GWB, based on his campaign. My biggest concern is that the Dems will get another WJC in office and he/she will have the power. Think about that! We're opening up the entire nation to attack by our own Government!"
So, if you vote for a third party, guess what? "The Dems will get another WJC in office and he/she will have the power."
Think about your vote...
May God guide you in your decision and continue to bless...

I do think about that. To the point where I become a pain to anyone who'll listen.
Think about this -- does it matter WHO's on cahrge of the government if the government is attacking it's own people?
If that becomes the case, as it appears to be, who do you vote for?

Please answer me honestly, my FRiends...do you believe the legislation being offered up by the House--controlled by the Pubbies--is "measurably better" than that offered up by the RAT-controlled Senate? If so, do you believe it's conceivable that a RINO-proof--i.e. 53-54 seats; so as to preclude McStain, Chaffee, Snowe and/or Collins, etc. from blackmailing the Party into watering down conservative legislation--Republican Senate majority in the Senate might just produce legislation more along the lines of what the House is producing? If so, wouldn't it be worth it to do what we can to provide said majority in the Senate this November, even if only to prove once and for all that there is "no measurable difference" between the RepublicRATS and the Demoblicans?!

Despite this infraction of INS rules Hadayet (Egyptian LAX killer) was still allowed to obtain a temporary work authorization in 1996, and he and his family earned permanent residency status the next year, after his wife won a federal visa lottery. Administration officials told the Times it was not clear whether the INS officials reviewing his residency status knew anything about the earlier allegations about his possible ties to the terror group. This was Ted Kennedy's bill. The politicians who voted for this irresponsible bill that allows random selection of potential terrororists from countries that are known to contain terrorists must be complete idiots. Has this been frozen yet? If not, why is it still on the books (or at least shouldn't it be an issue) considering Congress is serious about fighting the war against terrorists? Duh!

Yes and no . Long term planning requires give and take . Good day Darth . I dont feel you're pain .
To: dixierat22
Trouble is that, so far, we just swapped one rat for another Do you really believe that?
To: dixierat22
Look's to me like you dont have an out . You can go find a cave I guess , and do what you think is best for you and the family .
Or you can align yourself with something that more closely fits with what you want . I'm sorry it is such a simple decision .

Name me 5 campaign promises ( and back them up with a source; your imagination doesn't count ) that President Bush has " broken ". You can't even name 1, I bet, because you're a L-I-A-R. Neither is President Bush " conducting himself as though he were an emporer. " That's the crux of the problem ... that's what you REALLY wanted him to do.
