Consider this:

From the time you are born, you are one of the "twins". When you turn 11, your father is elected Governor of Texas. When you are 19, your father is elected President of the United States. If he serves two terms, your life will be under intense scrutiny and security coverage until you are 27 years old.

That's a damn tough sacrifice to make for your dad's destiny. Living your entire childhood, adolescence and young adulthood in a fishbowl.

I have a lot of compassion for these young ladies. I give them WIDE latitude. They want to drink, dance, laugh, flirt, love, gossip and screw up like every young woman in the World does in anonymity. They have none.

They didn't choose this life.

Sigh. Is November really that long to wait for Barbara? That is what I don't get. This isn't about bashing the twins. However, after Noelle just getting in trouble again, ya would think that Jenna and Barbara would at least lay low until their 21st birthdays in 2 months and not drink in public.

Assuming this is true, I'm sick of these shennanigans. The girls are about the most fortunate 20 year olds in the world. They really should be setting an example...that's one of the things we all craved after eight years of the Clinton White House.

The problem is that this could also become tragic. There's an awful lot of enabling going on starting with their grandparents and their parents. A couple of years ago we told my now 11 yr. old step daughter, who's natural dad is a severe alcoholic, that she will likely be an alcoholic too. She knows and understands the problems both physical and mental that her natural dad has had and I think its made an impression on her for later years. Its too late now for the Bush girls.

These kids didn't want to be in this position in the first place. They said so. We should leave them alone and THANK THEM for allowing us to borrow their parents for 8 YEARS.

Good grief ! Two months in the life of a 20 year old can seem like an eternity. The twins are vivacious, privileged, pretty young women. What should they do, put their youth on hold ? When would be a good time for them to enjoy themselves ? They are 20 years old and trying to live as normal a life as they can considering who they are and the times we live in. "Dancing up a storm" til 2am with your friends is NOT unusual for a 20 year old college girl neither is having a glass or two of white wine. At 20 most of us made decisions that didn't turn out as we expected but mercifully the press wasn't following us around. Clearly, the press isn't going to give either of them the break they gave Chelsea. I do not think for a moment that Chelsea Clinton suddenly developed a taste for boozing and partying all over several continents in the last year but the press didn't report on her behavior previously. Frankly, I doubt they would now were it not for the fact they hope to justify their disgraceful stalking of the twins. Barbara and Jenna live in a goldfish bowl with enormous pressures that other young ladies can't begin to imagine. They will never again be able to recapture these sweet days of youth. It is a shame the press refuses to allow them to be themselves. If anyone is to be chastised for bad behavior and poor judgment it should be the press not two spirited and winsome young girls.

same here... by the time i turned 21 and could get into clubs legally--no longer having to borrow a friend's ID, i was all clubbed-out... very rarely stepped into a club after that...
