Yes, the punks with box cutters did more than we expected. A punk with a nuke will do more than that.

I agree, Saudi is an enemy, but not the only one. I think we are dealing with each in different ways.

Saddam is a rattlesnake, gotta get the shovel and cut his head off.

The Saudis are sheep in wolves' clothing, we'll fence them in and tame them. Either that, or they die, too.

Don't you mean Saudi Arabia?

Um, no, I meant Iraq. Will this help you understand?

Iraq Calls for the Formation of Suicide Squads to Strike American Targets and Interests

< snip >

An editorial in the Iraqi weekly Al-Iqtisadi [The Economist], which is owned by Saddam Hussein's eldest son Uday, called for the formation of suicide [fidaiyoon] squads to launch broad-based sabotage operations against the United States, its friends, and interests.

Like I said, unsubstantiated reports from dubious sources.

What exactly is dubious about MEMRI, which seems quite reliable?

And how can you say this is unsubstantiated when this information comes from a weekly owned by Uday Hussein?

"All I'm saying is that you sound like the anti-gun lobby going on and on about how dangerous guns are."

You, and only you, are talking about guns on this thread. The subject is irrelevant to the matter at hand. Which, I suppose, is why you brought it up.

"Keep in mind, Sept 11 happened without a single weapon of mass destruction."

Oh, it did? What would you call anthrax?

"Anthrax? September 11?"

You reject anthrax as a constituent of of September 11?

Or do you reject anthrax as a WMD, because it produced so few casualties?

"I should take the word of a magazine writer on Iraq?"

You seem prepared to take the word of Saddam Hussein that he means us no harm...

My point is that unless there is CONVINCING proof they will be used for harm, I'm wary of action.

That is precisely the attitude that the Clinton adminstration took when given evidence that terrorists would use commercial planes as weapons. And look where that got us.

Hussein used chemical weaopons on his OWN PEOPLE! Do you really think he wouldn't hesitate to use them against the US and Israel????

We saved their bacon in Europe during WWII. While fighting those who attacked us, the Japanese.

This situation with saddam is setting up much the same as the situation with hitler did. Europe tried to appease that madman, while he took over country after country while committing horrendeous acts of barbarism on the Jews and his own people.

My step-dad Frank Arrigo was a member of the Rock Force who re-took Corregidor. He and another man raised the US Flag there. Battalion Flag

My husband's Uncle Ralph was a member of Merrill's Marauders. Merrill's Marauders

I've a 20 year old who could be drafted if we reach that point. I don't want my son to go to war no more than any other mother does. BUT FREEDOM ISN'T FREE. It has to be defended. Or we will be setting ourselves up to be in the same position as Israel.
