Nicotine is water-soluble, so I'd guess it doesn't stay around very long ... maybe about a day at the most.

The time would depend a lot on what the test threshold is. A threshold for nicotine would be rather arbitrary, since it seems that the substance doesn't directly affect performance of most any task significantly in common dosages.

Nicotine is actually quite poisonous, with an LD50 (I believe this means an acutely lethal dosage for half the subject population) equal to about 50 micrograms per kilogram.
