My son is headed to PA from MI this afternoon, should be on the Ohio Turnpike. I'm too rattled to figure out whether or not totally fall apart. Can someone help?

Early Spring and Fall tend to breed the nastiest tornados in the midwest.

I understand a touchdown within a few hundred yards of where I live.

No reports of any deaths [yet]; TV says a kid or kids were injured in Morgan County [South of Indy]. Apparently some damage in Noblesville [Hamilton County] where my younger daughter teaches school. Reports of many interstates closed , due to downed power lines. national guard called out for some communities.

Prayers, indeed.

The good news, so far, is I have not heard of serious injuries.

Newspeople are saying they haven't seen this much damage in a long time. It's widespread and devastating. Roads closed everywhere.

might check in at weather.com and enter 'toledo', then ohio...you can get a motion map...right off hand, it looks like he might encounter scattered thunder-boomers

will pray

Just talked to my daughter in PA, she heard from him about an hour ago. He was only in Ann Arbor then - in a storm.

She just tried calling him on his cell phone, no answer. He would just be approaching northern IN by my calculation.

Hope he's just in a bad cell, or has the phone turned off. It's time to leave work, it's going to be a long hour's drive home.

The Ohio Turnpike appears to be north of the heaviest weather. Don't fall apart.
