Thanks for the repost. I missed it before. It is a great article.

But the battle has been lost. The new Los Angeles cathedral is the monument to their victory. The Church as a prison; as a mere adjunct to the welfare/police state....

That monstrosity is but one battle in a war. Just because the megalomaniac running Los Angeles into the ground got away with it, is no reason to totally despair.

I would tend to agree were it not that the Holy Spirit is alive and well and very much at work. I trust the Holy Spirit to carry the Church through whatever. Under the Holy Spirit's guidance the Church has survived bad popes, bad bishops, bad priests, heresy, schism and apostasy. There is nothing new in all of this, and no cause for despair. My job is to support the good work with my prayers and my own quest for holiness, however inadequate. Trust God to know His job, and do it regardless of human obstructionism, perversion, blindness and just plain sin.

I beg your pardon.I had just decided that Mahoney's monument to victory has turned to ashes.I think the "opening celebration" was designed to herald in that new Amchurch with tributes and accolades to the new reigning "Prince".I think that instead,it has been the butt of a lof of nasty jokes and comments and has served nothing so well as to show how barren, crass and ugly this whole new concept of church is.I believe the opening was the funeral of the new church.I think they may realize it too.

May it long stand as a memorial to what happens when man tries to be god,or just as pleasant to think about, may it stand until an earthquake causes it to tumble down. Some night when no one is in it.Now if that isn't full of faith, hope and charity.

Not trying to be thick, but what's wrong with the new cathedral in LA? I haven't been there, nor have I seen many pictures.

Much obliged,
