There are a lot of us up here

Bravo for post of the day! Truly, your writing is eloquent and credible. And I agree with your take on "our" idiotic pols.

I only have one question: if you are IN Canada, why are you "Former Proud Canadian?" Just curious.

Again, great post......everyone gets so "black & white" about issues, the "them or us" garbage.

Glad you asked. I used to be a proud Canadian, when we had a country to be proud of, when we had armed forces that actually helped to defend the free world AND North America. When we had a thinking, working electorate who couldn't be bought by cheap promises, I was proud. When we had a population that could be counted on to uphold the principles of freedom and individual rights the west was founded on, I was proud.

This nation has been feminized, socialized, taxed to death, propagandized, immigrationized, and gelded. It is no longer a nation of proud people, just a bunch of ninnies looking for another government cheque in the mail.

So why don't I move to the US? Several reasons. The IRS is one. Very, very nasty people from what I hear. Our taxes are higher but the collection techniques are much more humane. Believe it or not there is a far greater measure of personal freedom in Canada, it isn't written down, but it is practised. In the US there is a greater amount of freedom written in your constitution, but it isn't practised.

I have to get off my soap box, I'm going to the States this afternoon for some high school football.
