My brother (On the right) and buddies at Cu-Chi 1966!Your brother must have been a tunnel rat to be hangin' around Cu Chi...not a nice place to be.
To: BubbaJunebug
No, he was too big to be a tunnel rat. This was when he first got there in '65. They not only had to fight in the field but also worry about the little bastards popping up inside the camp.
To: Couer de Lion
I agree, the movie did show him as honorable, and just leading his troops as our guys were. Thus the title "We were Soldiers".
I hope this fine actor gets out of Vietnam. He deserves better than living in a Communist country where he is NOT FREE to even ACT!!

NEVER FORGET
...Having been declared a Traitor of the State, by the Communist State of Vietnam, says that DON DUONG is not about to leave there any time soon, unless it's the same way over 58,000 Americans did during the Vietnam War.
...Pray for the well-being of Academy Award-Deserving and much at risk Actor...
...DON DUONG.

To: ALOHA RONNIE
Wow. Thanks for the heads up, Ronnie. Mr. Duong was indeed heroic. I think we should forward this to various Hollywood celebrities, SAG. Perhaps Mr. Duong's brave act can lead our leading propagandists to finally understand the difference between the freedoms they take for granted and the Communist countries they ignorantly romanticize.
To: HAL9000
"By becoming a propagandist and henchman for 'hostile forces' and tarnishing the Vietnamese soldiers and people, Don Duong has sold his conscience cheaply and become a national traitor," it said. How about a trade? We give them Jane Fonda, and we'll take this guy in.

"...was primarily designed to decimate the VC..."That's absolutely correct........and the Tet Offensive succeeded in this respect brilliantly. The VC were never again a truly effective fighting force. Of course, we paid a heavy price in many ways as well.........especially in "political capital", since the American public had been told how "under control" the situation was in Vietnam. The Tet Offensive destroyed the Pentagon's credibility, and the rest.......as they say.........is history (much to the chagrine of those who served there, no doubt).
