Mystery Sniper Still on the Loose

September 18, 2002

By Daniel Bramlette

BONN. CO. - Bonneville County Sheriff's deputies responded near Palisades Reservoir this afternoon when a truck driver reported someone shooting at cars.

The truck driver says he saw someone on the road wearing camouflage and carrying a gun. Then he heard a loud crack and saw glass flying from his windshield. The truck was the only vehicle hit.

Officers closed highway 26 for two and a half hours while they searched for the gunman. Deputies are asking people who live in the area to report seeing anything unusual.

This has not been on local news here in Boise ... yet. But it's on the other side of the state.

My inlaws live over near there and have property up at this very lake.

It is hunting season and this may account for it, although hunters are required to wear orange. Many ear it over cammies.

Either way, they need to "hunt" this guy down and lower the boom on whomever it is for either gross negligence as a hunter, or willfully attempting to shoot someone.

Either way, he's apparently not a very good shot...

Sounds a little weird, as written. Let's not ignore the possibility the trucker was playing with his .357 and suddenly needed to explain a shot-out windshield.
