The term, Pakistani", is a joke in our neck of the woods. We have a great "Indian" restaurant over here. The owner is a Pakistani who markets his restaurant as Indian. His reasoning: If he mentioned Pakistani food, he'd be out of business within a week. So, even the Pakistani's here in the US find that being called an Indian is advantageous when dealing with the "natives".
