Europe's first fertility centre for lesbians and single women will open in London today for those seeking a "do-it-yourself" baby.
The Women's New Life Centre will open in Harley Street to cater for the rising numbers of women looking to start a family without the help of a male partner.
The clinic will open three months after Mannotincluded.com became the world's first internet site dedicated to helping lesbians find a sperm donor. More than 3,000 couples have registered with the site, which claims it now has 5,000 potential donors on its books. Many of the men offering to donate their sperm contacted the website within hours of it going live.
Pro-family organisations have attacked the service while other critics fear the website and the newcentre may encourage a "baby on demand" culture in the UK.
But the man behind the new centre and the website, John Gonzales, said: "It has been launched in response to the insensitive way in which lesbian and single women are treated by a number of clinics due to social prejudice."
In the past, many lesbian couples have been forced to find donors for DIY insemination themselves as clinics have refused to put them in contact with a donor.
Mr Gonzales, a father of four, believes up to 800 women will pass through his centre's doors in its first 12 months of business.
If the private London centre is a success he plans to open similar ones in Manchester and Edinburgh.
The centre has applied for a licence from the human fertilisation and embryology authority for permission to carry out inseminations and store frozen sperm on the site.

Single women and lesbians who purposefully bring children into this world without their fathers are extremely selfish and self-centered people. The men who donate their sperm to the creation of their children, but who have no intent of loving or bringing up those children, are no better.

The headline is certainly misleading. I expected it to be about a center for baby lesbians. Goo goo.

You and I had the same thoughts. I wondered how they knew that little girls would end up being,...well....you know.....er....carpet eaters. (Will that get me banned?)

From a strictly utilitarian perspective, those men are pretty smart. They get to spread their genetic legacy with absolutely no investment of resources. This is only possible, of course, because the State is playing the role of Daddy. All of the tax-paying suckers who pick of the tab for these bastards are the evolutionary losers, especially the good guys, who tend to limit family size because they cannot afford more children.

The Women's New Life Centre will open in Harley Street to cater for the rising numbers of women looking to start a family without the help of a male partner. Are men pathetic enough to contribute to their own obsolescence? I'm afraid we'll find out they are.
