Noooooooooooooo. You misunderstood. I wrote Forgot South Dekota. As in: I forgot to list SD along with the other states from my previous post.

I see us picking up NJ, MN, SD, MO.

The Texas seat is safe, but not because of Owens. If a tree falls, but no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Her slaughter has received little coverage and less analysis here in TX, no one but the GOP hardcore know about it or its relevance. Hypocritical media bastards burying the story, but we all knew that would be the case. The GOP is going to have to get the message out if her trashing is going to make a difference.

Is it possible to find anywhere a breakdown of the close races in terms of how much money they have? I feel the need to donate to many candidates but I don't know which ones need the money more.

You can try www.clubforgrowth.com. They use a strategy of putting money in tight races. They don't like RINO's and they are enemys of the big government Republican establishment.

Jack was born in 1922.... so eighty depending upon the month... He's on the speakers circuit (fee %5001-$10,000)and his “Merry Go Round” column appears in newspapers daily. But his prognostication is wrong on the Texas Senate race, imo.

A really, really cool scenario is the possibility that we might gain the majority immediately in November, not January. The race to watch is the Carnahan race. We need her out! The reason why we could have the majority in November is explained in this link

I agree with your assessment and I am sticking with my prediction which I have held for a couple of months now: the GOP picks up 4: Minnesota, South Dakota, New Jersey and Missouri and they retain all their seats.

On a different note, what is happening with the court cases involving CFR? Is there any buzz about that?

Montana would be at risk for the Dems if Racicot had run against the Dem, Baucus. But Racicot chose not to run. You can thank him if Daschle stays Senate leader by one vote.

We already have a "McKinney" in TX -- her name is Sheila Jackson Lee. Many have confused Lee and McKinney for years. Also the liberal Democrat congressional leader Martin Frost of Dallas has a philosophy hardly distinguishable from Lee and McKinney, other than the Arab issue. TX has plenty of liberals; the conservatives just don't know where to look.

Many in TX have never heard of Justice Owen, even though she received a large margin in her reelection bid. Many in TX do not know that she has been rejected by the Democrat Senate for appointment to the federal appeals court. Many do not know what a federal appeals court does and that the TX court is located in New Orleans. Many also do not know that there is a Democrat Senate.

What about GA and the chances for Saxby Chambliss defeating Max Cleland? Anyone have any data on that?

According to GOP internal polling (as reported in one of last week's Inside Politics columns from the Washington Times), Chambliss trails Cleland by more than 15 points. No details or specifics were given. It simply said that Perdue trailed Barnes by about 15 points in the Governor's race, and that Chambliss' deficit was even greater than that.

BTW, I notice you scarf up every obscure source that predicts gloom-and-doom for Republicans. Jack Anderson hasn't been a serious political commentator since he thought somebody was trying to assassinate him.

Sinkspur, let's just say that I am not as "cautiously optimistic" about Republican chances as was Reagan, who had a Democrat House for eight years and a Democrat Senate for two years.

"Optimistic"? You're downright pessimistic, as evidenced by the obscure sources you dig up to support your contentions.

You still think Sanchez has a chance to be elected governor? He can't break 40%, with only 8% undecided.

He's got NO CHANCE!

Kirk's desperate race card strategy is something candidates pull in late October, not early September.

He's going to get stomped.

I have not seen "Kirk's desperate race card strategy." What is this? I wonder if the people know about his background. I wonder if his supporters are primarily the people who backed Ann W. Richards for governor.

I remember that you were predicting a much more substantial Dubya victory in 2000 as well as congressional gains for the GOP. I must have been mistaken.

I have not seen "Kirk's desperate race card strategy." What is this?

Kirk is saying that, because Cornyn favors action on Iraq, that he's sending ethnics and other minorities into harms way. "I wonder how he'd feel if those making $1 million a year had to send their children into battle?"

This is racism and class warfare, pure and simple. Kirk's getting beat up in a TV ad that shows him hugging Bill Clinton, while Cornyn's being hugged by George W. Bush. He knows this kind of stuff resonates with Texans, so he's scraping the bottom of the political barrel by calling his opponent a racist.

Kirk's going to get mauled, severely.
