AGOS, Nigeria - When her time to die comes, convicted adulteress Amina Lawal will be buried up to her neck in sand. When only her head remains exposed, those watching will be invited to throw stones until the 30-year-old single mother is dead.

"When her time to die comes, convicted adulteress Amina Lawal will be buried up to her neck in sand. When only her head remains exposed, those watching will be invited to throw stones until the 30-year-old single mother is dead."

''As they throw, they will be calling `God is great,'''

It will also be the end of her political shelf-life and the various factions will move on to find another sacrifice to their favorite causes. Are the Muslims stoning her out of "piety", or to rub dirt in southern Nigeria's face? Is the European Parliament really concerned about one woman in a Third World Country or is she their sop to centrist voters to balance capitulation on Iraq? Does anybody personally care about the fate of Amina Lawal?

It would be more convenient all around if she were stoned to death on TV. Then we can be reassured that Islam is barbaric, that "Allah is Great", that Europe is righteous, and that "you heard it first, on CNN". And we can be certain she will die, in her pitiful cotton smock, comforted by such trinkets as one can buy in a Nigerian bazaar. Convenient, but it diminishes me as a man, what little I am, to have her hung in my face.

If any Freeper knows a reliable way to get her out of Dodge, I will contribute up $50 to the cause. Precious little hope, but maybe more than she's got.

I'm with you, wretchard.

You can bet your bottom dollar that if these savages could interdict all external media coverage of their barbarities, they would do so. The Palestinians tried it, when reports of their parties and street celebrations in response to Black Tuesday reached the West. We were fortunate that the footage had already been transmitted to us, or they might have succeeded.

How can it be that our domestic feminists are not up in arms over this sentence? But then, they didn't have much sympathy for the women of Afghanistan whom the Taliban openly brutalized, either, did they? Can't go around questioning the practices of a Third World hellhole, or your orthodoxy police will suspect you of insufficient devotion to "cultural relativism."

The proposition that Islam is just one more religion, even a "great" religion, is nauseating in light of things like this. Yet this is out in the light because those Nigerian Muslims have achieved political control of their region! What cruelties do our eyes fail to see among American Muslims, shielded by their well known insularity and distaste for public examination of their practices?

"This just in. NOW again ignores the murder of women worldwide,
and is PROUD of their silence as NOW's leadership quietly waits on bended knees to service X42."

How can it be that our domestic feminists are not up in arms over this sentence?

Because their main enemy is the Christian moral tradition. They just don't come right out and say so. This political murder in no way interferes with their agenda; it might even furthur it on "relativistic" grounds. Or you might go farther and say that Islam and feminism are allied in their hostility to Christian civilization.
