Fine, I'll call your bluff. Name a few companies that are selling (profitably) open source software. Look at my whole statement, not the snippit you quoted. You can sell proprietary software that runs on an open-source platform, as long as it is not derivative on open-source stuff. Borland, for example, sells its development tools (for $$$) for the Linux platform. If you port a popular Windows or Sun app to Linux, you can continue to charge as before.

Right, in other words... the only way to make money in an open source environment is to sell closed source tools/apps.
