As an aside, the National Honor Society accepts those who meet the criteria of grades, community service, character, and leadership. And also those who file a lawsuit. I recall a year or two ago, a couple of girls (I don't recall if they were minorities or not) who did not meet the criteria, sued and therefore were admitted.

The junior high my daughter attended just relaxed the grading standards for the Honor Role to accommadate all. The two years she attended, close to 60% of the student body was on the "Honor Roll", and very few really belonged there.
