Daschele just CANNOT stop himself from screwing with the agenda of the Prez. He can't stand aside and open a path to a very serious and dangerous mission if it might lead to a Bush win. The guy is just a pest. He hasn't moved any appropriation legislation through his chamber. He doesn't know how to get things done. He's a destroyer, a delayer, an obstacle. Well, that doesn't work in the Majority. He needs to work with the tough guy Pubbies in the House. He can't work with anyone. He's a dismal little elf. A "low talker" as Seinfeld would say.

Let us not forget how we ended up here: the dishonest, self-serving actions of Jim Jeffords. That bastard has done more damage to the republic than we will realize for many years to come. I hope he pays in the next election cycle, but considering that Vermont actually has a Socialist (Bernie Sanders) in congress, I am not holding my breath...
