To me, he has always appeared that way. As a petulent child. ALA Clinton.
I did not see the debate. Was the format like the last presidential debate? -- e.g. hosted by a radical left winger who only raised liberal issues, and attacked the Republican candidate at every opportunity, while passing praise and puff-ball questions to the dimo?
That's all the dims have in their arsenal now: Abortion! They are completely deviod of ideas!
Abortion! Abortion!Abortion! Abortion!Abortion! Abortion!Abortion! Abortion!Abortion! Abortion!Abortion! Abortion!Abortion! Abortion!Abortion! Abortion!Abortion! Abortion!Abortion! Abortion!Abortion! Abortion!Abortion! Abortion! BWAAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Losers.
Ex-patriot agreement.
The last time Quinnipiac was in the field, in early August, the survey showed the race tied among REGISTERED VOTERS. Now, Quinnipiac shows Doug leading by a 48-44 percent margin among LIKELY VOTERS, the only group that counts at this stage of the race. So we're looking at two completely different voting groups here. I'm not surprised the race is tighter among those more likely to vote.
The key here is really turnout. You know the unions and other traditional liberal Democrat groups will have their machines running to get people to the polls by any means necessary. The question still remains if conservatives and Republicans will.
The senator said something accusatory about how much money Forrester made, and Forrester said something like: "I hope we have many more debates, cause everytime we debate, the senator makes another untrue statement about how rich I am. A few more debates, and I'll be as rich as Corrizone.
Forester also said, I'm hoping to make Corizone the senior senator from New Jersey. He had some great lines, funny stuff, and man oh man, he delivered them very very well. He was ready! While Toricelli just fumed.
Listen, I thought the best moment of the debate came when Forrester practically accused Torisilly of being behind litagation against him. It was as if he caught Toricelli in a big boo boo. Toricelli mentioned legal action that hadn't even happened yet! I thought it was monumental that Forrester accused the senator's henchmen of bringing charges against him, and the senator did not find the opportunity to deny it.
The group is called the People's Muhjahedeen, recognized by the US State Department as a terrorist organization. According to a 1994 US Department of State report, the Mujahedeen is the single most violent underground group and the principle killers of US employees in Iran. MEK supported the takeover of the US Embassy in Tehran in 1979 and was responsible in killing US military attaches in Iran in 1977. MEK members have continued to provide internal security services for the Iraqi government.
They are almost soley funded by Saddam Hussein, who in the 1994 State Department report, is listed as giving HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to the group. On March 24, 2000, the State Department also revealed that Saddam Hussein was building a new headquarters for the MEK, that will be used to coordinate MEK terrorist activities and to plan attacks against targets in Iran and elsewhere.
Torricelli sent letters to the Clinton Administration requesting more favorable treatment for the organization. The most recent letter was a letter to Secretary of State Albright in the Summer of 1999. In a Persian-language press release issued from their European office outside Paris on October 23, the group claimed that Torricelli had introduced three of their members to President Clinton at a DSCC fundraiser in Washington.
According to Iran Brief, a publication which tracks democracy in Iran, Muhjahedin supporters and members gave more than $103,000 to Torricelli during the 1996 election cycle, after kicking in $37,000 to his 1994 Congressional campaign.
Now las night Torricelli says,"Indeed a federal court agreed with us, and they were removed from that [terrorist] list."
Well, my friends, that is a lie.
State Department Spokesman Boucher at State Department briefing, October 5, 2001:
"There was an Appeals Court decision on this. The Appeals Court upheld the designation, but it ordered that the Secretary of State give the group the opportunity to submit materials in support of its view that it should not have been re-designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. The group has submitted these materials; we have considered them carefully; and we have gone ahead with this re-designation."
And in fact, they are listed on the State Department's most recent list of terrorist organizations.
" Jersey polls
Two new polls show New Jersey Democratic Sen. Robert G. Torricelli trailing his Republican opponent, businessman Doug Forrester, although the contest remains close. An Eagleton Institute poll of likely voters showed Mr. Forrester ahead, 44 percent to 39 percent. A Quinnipiac University survey also gave the edge to Mr. Forrester, 48 percent to 44 percent "Eagleton and Quinnipiac have now confirmed the Forrester surge first discovered by SurveyUSA several weeks ago," Forrester campaign manager Bill Pascoe said in a prepared statement.
"The two new polls show a remarkable movement to Doug among the New Jersey electorate the last time Eagleton was in the field, in early June, the survey showed Mr. Torricelli with a 14-point lead, now evaporated; the last time Quinnipiac was in the field, in early August, the survey showed the race tied."
According to the Quinnipiac survey of likely voters, Forrester leads in every area of the state except Essex and Hudson Counties. He leads by 13 among men and trails by just 5 among women.
Others on this thread have already provided the most recent Quinnipiac polling numbers from this week, which still show Doug leading. KYW-TV usually quotes SurveyUSA. The last poll I have from them was mid Aug, with Forrester leading 48-37%. I'll see if I can find any new polling from them, but right now I have no numbers from any firm that match what you're reporting.
Torricelli got 42 percent to Forrester's 38 percent in the latest Quinnipiac University poll, with 14 percent undecided. The race is a virtual tie with the poll's margin of error of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.
The only problem is, Quinnipiac's website says Forrester is leading 44-40%:

I see what happened. KYW-TV took the second paragraph - the one most beneficial to the Torch - and reported on that. Registered voters, while Quinnipiac focused on likely voters. I imagine KYW will say it wanted to compare to the previous Quinnipiac RV poll.
Even simply looking at RVs, the numbers went from 37-37% to 42-38%. I wouldn't call that slippage at all. Simply noise still within MOE.
I grew up in NJ ... man, it is sad how far they've fallen.
