Finally know someone who's tried it. Is it any good?

Oh, God, yes! It's not overly sweet, but put it and a plate of cookies or bowl of ice cream in front of me and neither would survive...[g]

Vanilla Coke...I tried it (by accident ....the can looks just a regular coke if your don't look carefully)It was pretty nasty. Although I am not a big Vanilla fan, so take my comment with a grain of salt.

Just as long as nobody asks about how the intelligence agencies got the stuff that tipped us off, then I'll be happy.

Neutrons are not usually found from a decay process. They are produced commonly by reactions. neutrons and detection of same

A geiger counter, or geiger tube is used to detect alpha, beta and gamma rad. geiger tube

Thermal (slow moving) neutrons from reactions are collected by metals like cadmium and nonmetals like carbon(carbon pile reactor(Chernobyl)). Those are the control rod materials.

We use fission chambers in nuclear power. Vacuum filled chambers that have a plating of special nuclear material, usually Pu-239. A high voltage is impressed between the shell of the device and an inner screen, kinda like a vacuum tube, but instead of a cathode to emit electrons the SNM does if for you. When struck by a fast neutron, the Pu breaks down into ionized particles, causing a leakage current between the sheel and the pin. This can be measured, and using a conversion factor, the neutron flux can be estimated. The neat part about these devices is most ions will not penitrate the outer casing, just not enough zoomies eV wise.

These devices are very robust, and will survive the post-Lose of Coolant Accident (LOCA) environment inside containment for hundreds of hours. The sensitivity is adjusted two way, one, more dense SNM is used, like Pu-243, and second, the area of the detector can be increased. Figures a guy call mr neutron whould know this.

It's understandable why Cheney would be put into a secured location with Bush traveling the all three attack sites yesterday, his speech in NY last night at today at the UN. I can assume we will know how serious the threat level really is by how long it takes to bring Cheney back into public.

I loved vanilla Coke as a kid (at the soda fountain), so I bought some -- the bottled stuff is awful. I think the soda fountain used real vanilla and real sugar (not corn sweeteners). My opinion only -- but since you ask.

Vanilla Coke works. That combo soothes your stomach and keeps your cns firing.

I'd rather drink cough syrup infused with wormwood. VC is the nastiest-tasting substance ever sold in a soda pop can, IMHO.

I cannot find my article I posted from BANGKOK POST about three months ago based on a report by a professor from Chulalagkorn University in Bangkok about the ALARMING ship hijackings and threats by Islamist terrorists, intent on delivering a dirty bomb, and that their area of operation was the Straits of Malacca.

The suspicious Liberian ship's route went precisely through there, i.e. Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and onto the US through the Suez.

The Thai professor warned the world community to really seriously focus on this security hole ASAP. I know the US has been stepping up surveillance. Remember, the Orange Alert specifically mentioned energy and TRANSPORTATION. Too many coincidences here.

I posted the article on FR, from that obscure Asian source, and it got a good amount of attention and chill factor here on FR. Can't seem to find it. Will post as a general news article today if I can find it.

Uh, yeah. Very bad. If a neutron detector picked this up (some of the more techie-oriented folks can do this better'n me), then it basically points to the type of radioactive material tied to an actual warhead.
