Is it possible that Ritter was compromised by Iraqi agents during his tenure at UNSCOM, and is being blackmailed now? There is no rationale for him to take such an adamant position in this debate, especially since he has been out of the loop for nearly 5 years. He's not an expert, he's not informed. He's got to be afraid of something, he can't be working to gain something. Perhaps a desperate attempt to stop the disclosure of his true activities and loyalties during his inspection mission is behind this. He's not insane, he's lying and furtively sabotaging the credibility of Bush's Iraqi mission.

That's my bold, controversial and unwarranted Michael Rivero-esque theory of intrigue, conspiracy and wonderment for today.

Something very strange is behind the Ritter flip / flop. Your guess is as good as anyone else's. I was thinking he was being paid off. Maybe blackmail is the REAL deal.

My thought was that he increased his "paygrade." Bribery and blackmail can be two sides of the same coin.
