MOlon Labe ! I pray we will mobilize and be prepared for all the threats. Going in there is liable to open up a can of worms in severaal places ... and that will give us the opportunity, if we are prepared, to take out all of that trash.

Agreed. But the President's point was the Saddam had defied the UN - the very body which is now trying to say - look the other way - Saddam is not so bad. In other words, the President was bringing them a mirror. Whether they have eyes to see or not is another question. I know that the freedom loving people of the world are with President Bush and with America - including the silent ones inside Iraq and Iran who have suffered so greatly...... But, we face the grim reality that most of the world lacks the sure moral compass which is inside the heart, mind, and soul of President Bush. His leadership in this direction, however, cannot be denied. Let's see what the world does. If it does not join him - America - then there should be no question, we will act on our own.

It is a valid comparision and reflects the reality that in war most principles are compromised.

Yes, sometimes there are only two choices without the option of a non-choice. The thought of taking one person's life in order to save another or our own comes to mind. Murder is still murder. If our "principles" aren't to be compromised, we should simply lay down and die now.

Thanks for your posts.

Sometimes reality doesn't give us good choices. Unfortunately some people don't understand this and condemn those who do.

I believe we will, I just hope we are sufficiently prepared and mobilized to deter any of the other players (meaning Iran, Syria, Lybia in the Mid East and China and N. Korea in the Far East) from making a move.

Fregards.

I don't know as that you are saying this takeit, but to be sure, I for one am condemning no one. I have indicated my own feelings, beliefs and intentions in this regard. I afford others their own.

In order to be plain, let me say again, I would join neither the Islamics Radicals or the abortionists in your hypothetical ... I would make my own way and encourage, influence, seek to get as many others to do the same as possible.

Both options are, for me, an abject denial and betrayal of my view of foundational principles that I will not compromise on. But that's just me.

FRegards.

Jeff = regards to you. Always.

Arne Fulkin posted this on another thread and it bears repeating. It is the "hopeful scenario" - one which, if encased in prayer, we can move towards. Of course, ther eis the "bad case" scenario that you mention which is always a possibility. If so, if the worst case happens, this nation is over anyway. But, if we refuse to take on the one nation which more than any other is ruled by a psychopath ready and willing to attack neighbors in the region as he has done many times in the past - we are over as a nation anyway. "

Here's what Arne wrote:

"We don't understand the dynamic here on FR, but it is real -our less informed neighbors and fellow citizens just wanted to see Bush addressing the U.N. in a spirit of fellowship and cooperation. They wanted that base covered before we embark on military endeavors. Is it useless? We know it is! But, the folks out there - good willed Americans watching "American Idol" and lost in their Fantasy Football rosters - still think the U.N. is some moral beacon that should be involved. We're not going to need ANYTHING from the U.N. to execute this mission. Nobody is going to pay attention to the nuances of foreign support after seeing that video of Bush standing up before the World body today. That's what they needed to see. If the American people sign off, the gutless twerps in D.C. will jump on board. When America shows its resolve and success, the twerps in Europe will rush the bandwagon. Bush is playing the game. Tony Blair sees the winner, and is setting himself and the Brits up as the most influential player in the new Europe. Putin is on board, even though he can't openly support the Iraq campaign because of Russian industrial interests there.

Saddam and his regime of brutality are toast. When Saddam is gone, Iran will burn from within. Millions of Iranians have been demonstrating in the streets against the Tehran despots for months. When Iran and Iraq are cooked, the operational tools, financing and protections that only a Nation-State can supply to a worldwide terrorist movement will disappear. Syria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan will eradicate their terrorist ties and remove destructive individuals. Hezbollah and Hamas will be fiscally defanged. Arafat will hang. We won't need the Saudis for oil anymore. The Chinese will understand that Bush is not to be challenged regarding sacred commitments to Taiwan. Iraq is the catylist for all of this."

You are welcome.

They had a full transcript, which was what I was looking for. Their other many failings had no bearing on these words which I have posted here, and under the left-hand pull-down menu at my site:

ATTACK ON AMERICA

I hope and pray it is so ... but am nagged by Sun Tsu's inclination at mis-direction.

Either way, I have no doubts but that this nation will perervere and overcome the evil and gadiantons we face (both internal and external). It is simply a matter, IMHO, of how much pain we go through to get there ... and that is a matter of which way we chose as a people to be humble before the Creator ... either willingly on our own, resulting in less hardship, or the harder path.

In the end ... this is what my SERIES is really all about.

God bless.

I respect your viewpoint J. and did not mean to imply otherwise. It is only that sometimes there is only a choice between one side or another and there is no third option.

I think, that as long as their is free will and conscience ... that there is always a choice, an opportunity to direct ourselves for what we see as the good.

It may not be a pleasant choice ... it may not offer much hope for success ... but it is there just the same. We always have our free will, even if wholly constrained, and in our hearts and minds those choices exist.

It is simply how I choose to view the world. I realize that in everyday life, sometimes the distinction and sometimes the logistics make it difficult (and after raising four teenagers it could not be more clear on the personal level just as it exists at the macro level) ... but even in that, we are left with the choice. In the hypothetical you presented, I would either choose a third way, or die in the attempt. That would be my choice.

Again, please realize that I respect your ability and right to have your opinion on this I have no intention of attacking you ... I just have a differing view on this technicality. I believe over all, in all the important issues that are representative of how we will both most likely live out our lives ... that we are probably very close in our beliefs and philosophy.

Based on all we have discussed, I certainly would.

We are doing so now verbally and philosophically. I pray we are never forced to do so at arms ... but would not shrink if it required it and would be happy to have folks like you in the fox hole next to me in such a struggle.

I agree that today's speech to the UN was critical, but the speech referred to in this thread and which this thread contains the transcript to was last night's address to the nation by the President.

Thanks Jeff.

President George W. Bush and Laura Bush participate in a wreath-laying ceremony near the site of the crash where seven crew members and 33 passengers died when the plane crashed in Somerset County. Officials believe the plane was heading for a target in Washington, D.C., when the passengers fought back against the four hijackers.
