Exactly. Everytime there is a new holiday, what happens? The mail doesn't get delivered, the local, state, and fed workers get a free day with pay, and most of us still get stuck working anyway. No, the government workers do not need another extended coffee break.

Hey that give me a great idea. How about "Government Workers Actually Working for OUR Tax Money Day"?

Should September 11 be made a national holiday? = Should we give terrorists their own national holiday?

I am gonna be reaally P.O.'d in years to come if this day becomes an excuse for auto-dealers and appliance stores to hold a sale....

They were going off about the local newspapers in Cincinnati this morning. Apparently they have taken advantage of the "anniversary" and have "tons" of advertisements connecting the tragedy to sales and special offers.

I'm all for the capital system moving forward and not wavering to the terrorist threats and the rememberance. However, utilizing the tragedy to "bolster" your marketing position is just plain tacky.

Your proposed name 'Islamo-whackos Crashing into Buildings Day' captures the very reason that Sept 11 should not be a Holiday. What exactly would we be celebrating? This is not a day to have a picnic it is a day to reflect, pray and move on to prove that we will not be disrupted or frightened but strengthened by adversity.

We already have a Memorial Day.

Yes indeed,That's what Memorial Day IS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR.And how many people sit around on Memorial Day reflecting on how their relatives served their country, huh?I mean I know both my Grandfathers did,and I think of them and people I've met, that knew them, but we don't need another holiday.(Has everyone forgotten about the people who died in Oklahoma City? How about Soldiers in the Khobar Towers or on the U.S.S. Cole?People need to remember those people too.)

I voted NO. At the place of one's employment, maybe a moment of silence in memory. We need to remember by keeping commerce in motion that day. Stock market open, fed employees working and the great idea of capitalism humming along. Continue doing what we are hated for the most, just to really P.O. the lot of um.

Anything to shut the gubbermint down another full day, is OK by me. I'll have to admit, I get all Federal Holiday's off, but rarely get to actually take off, my disclaimer. Blackbird.

"I would prefer to celebrate "VT Day" -- Victory over Terrorism Day. Let's wait until we've completely taken out the trash, and then decide how to observe the whole situation."

Great idea BUMP!

Yes! It's already been declared "Crusader's Day" (by me).

It is to be celebrated by slow roasting pork and drinking beer after a long day of ridding the world of the one truely inferior religeon. Think of them as a several hundred million pinatas sans blindfolds.

Happy Crusader's Day America. Get Some!

Correct that, for most of us a more practical event..A long day at work creating weatlh and thriving in capitalism and freedom. It's more difficult for someone to take something when you know you have it.

I don't think it should be a holiday. I mean, what is it that we do on holidays? People can't wait for holidays to take time off from work, bbq's, plan a long weekend to go on vacation and have fun, etc. On a day like today it should be to remember what happened, go to church or say a prayer, or simply stay quiet and reflect, it's not about having fun.
