For example, if you remember Bush and his administration have always called for the destruction of "terror networks" instead of just calling for the capture or death of Osama Bin Laden. The faulty thinking of the democrats/liberals is that Al Queda is a top down organization and when OBL goes, then we can call the war success since he leads Al Queda and is the source of their funding.
Now if anyone did a little research in the media or at the DNC you would know that this is not the case. Al Queda has its own disaster recovery plan should OBL die so that these savages can continue their dirty work. All you have to do is read a best seller like Stephen Emerson's American Jihad to understand this. But apparently liberals are not too keen on doing any homework.
A more sinister explanation of their ignorance is that since OBL's body has not been found, then they can lord it over Bush for political purposes. They then claim that Bush has failed since OBL has not been caught or killed, with the reality being that it Al Queda and other terror networks are much bigger than that.
Terrorists are not suspended in mid-air. It takes the active support of states to provide the cover an organization like Al-Qaeda needs. That is why Saddam needs to be taken out. The WMD is important, and I'm not discounting it... but he is working through and with Al Qaeda... and other organizations.
Hezzbollah doesn't work independent of Islamic Jihad. Nor does Hamas work independent of Al Qaeda. These organizations get political and financial support from Iraq, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia.
Just follow the trail of the Iranian revolution. See how those groups worked together for the otherthrow of the Shah. See, how Iran works now through Hezzbollah, Islamic Jihad.
What the media wants to do is just separate the entities from each other. If we allow that to happen... then terrorism cannot be defeated. Because Hamas will just absorb the men, supplies, sources of Al Qaeda.
