Both sound like they result in very sore shoulders.

I don't own a .50-caliber sniper rifle. I wish I did. Not because I need it...but because if these people don't want me to have it, that is sufficient justification to get one. Sounds like a business opportunity to me. :-)

Man, that would be one awesome prairie dog rifle..

"any fool that chambers a round in this rifle in a home or place of residence is a idiot."
I should add to my last post. There havent been accidental discharges of this weapon because the people who own them usually have worked there way up to getting one because they belong to the gun culture in this country. Meaning they know firearms - period
They are well trained and not idiots. The people that own these rifles are - above average intelligence, above average income and are not criminals.
These politicians on the other hand have a different agenda on why they want these weapons out of the hands of the general population...

The riflemen that buy this weapon and spend that amount of money are in all probability going to be the safest gun owners around.</> You nailed it with this comment.

I have met two dozen people who own these big monsters. All of them are fine upstanding working or retired people who travel around going to target matches and just having fun on the ranges. A 30 pound rifle isn't something that you attempt to conceal or take to liquer store robberies.

This is an over kill weapon for the neighborhood. One accidental round going off can go through several homes. There is no need to have this kind of a large caliber HP weapon in a large city.Yes there is. For the person who resides in the city, but leaves to the country to shoot on occasion.
If a round goes off accidently, then severe punishment of the negligent actor is appropriate. But why legislate to meet a problem that simply does not exist?

Go back and hide under your bed. We'll let you know when it's safe to come out again. No we won't.

Setting aside the 2nd amm. issues here, how can the city ban the sale of a weapon without messing with interstate commerce; the supposed purview of the Feds.

I noticed the differences in energy but was thinking the jump from 50 to 60 cal would do more to P/O the ignorant people that wanted to ban the 50 cal rifles...

the ignorant people that wanted to ban the 50 cal riflesThey're not ignorant. They are deliberately misrepresenting the issue. They are working toward a gun-controlers wet dream of the USA - where only the police and military are armed. Then there can be no effective resistance to their most extreme social engineering plans. It ain't ignorance. It ain't stupidity. The politicians and their willing accomplices in the media are knowingly lying with deliberate malice to push their perverted totalitarian agenda.

"Setting aside the 2nd amm. issues here, how can the city ban the sale of a weapon without messing with interstate commerce; the supposed purview of the Feds." Good point.
As I frequently ask, how can city officials participate in "no questions asked" "gun buyback" programs and not be guilty of illegal trafficking in firearms? No questions asked presumably includes no paperwork filled out...

This is an over kill weapon . . . I've gone through the entire thread and you haven't responded to anyone who has challenged your statement. Do you have anything you would like to say?
