Christians believe that praying for the dead has merit, and that God hears those prayers.

THAT IS A BALD-FACED LIE, SINKSPUR!

Catholics believe that.

Bible-believing Christians DO NOT believe that the dead can be saved if they die without accepting Jesus as their personal Saviour, and we DO NOT believe in "purgatory".

I urge you to speak for CATHOLICS ONLY when posting such bald faced lies as you have just done.

Catholics are Christians, aren't they? They do believe the bible, don't they? The ones I know do.

Bible-believing Christians DO NOT believe that the dead can be saved if ...

That's because you only have 90.4% of the Bible.

Dear fellow Christian Sinkspur,

Please forgive my over-the-top post to you in #223. It was wrong and I feel very bad about it.

I should have just said... "Correction, Sinkpur, your position applies mostly to Catholics. Most mainline Protestant denominations do NOT believe in prayers for the dead, etc..."

Anyway, please forgive my previous note. I was wrong to say that you lied, you didn't, just stated the facts ambiguously. Thanks,

(a kinder, gentler) Berned
