United Airlines Flight 175, a Boeing 767, departs Boston's Logan International Airport at 8:14 a.m. ET en route to Los Angeles with 65 people on board. The plane is hijacked and almost immediately diverts south to New York. The commercial jetliner loops around the lower end of Manhattan and approaches the World Trade Center from the west, hitting the second building at 9:03 a.m.
