Reno won't be able to catch up, in my opinionHow about after the Supreme Court of Florida throws out the Tampa votes?

Okay, guys, I'm convinced -- Reno will come up just a little short. Much as I'd love to stay around for the finale, I do have to work in only a very few hours. I can't
believe I stayed up until 3:30 a.m. rooting for Jackboot Janet, but there ya go.
Night! It's been almost as much fun as playing with kittens!

New overall numbers.
6340 Of 6717 94%
Candidate Incumbent Votes Vote %
B. MCBRIDE 587,348 45%
J. RENO 563,630 43%
D. JONES 152,050 12%
377 precincts left; each must give an average of 63 votes more to Reno than McBride to create a tie. An hour and a half ago, I calculated that she needed 65 votes per precinct remaining (post 412). So she's making up about as much ground as she needs to even if it doesn't seem that way.
The last 89 precincts to report (between the 2:50ish central report of 6251 precincts in and the 3:20ish report above) gave net 5987 votes to Reno, or about 67 votes each.
In other words, it should get closer but how much depends on which counties are left in those 377 precincts. McBride has the edge.

Wonderful job, Torie. I figure that even if Reno doesn't get to the automatic recount point, she will get close enough that she could get one with a lawsuit. This whole thing has been a lot more fun than the 2000 election.

I did a quick spreadsheet, projecting out the numbers and here's my final numbers.
Jones---McBride--Reno
154,097 591,286 576,652
11.66% 44.73% 43.62%
Unfortunately, Reno will lose by 15,000 votes.

I am fading fast- have to get up in 3 hours. I'll check in before I leave to see how we did.
I keep hoping Janet will pull it out- it would be such fun to whip her in November.
Thanks for your numerical magic- it was fun.//gg

With votes counted in 90 percent of precincts, Reno, who served nearly eight years as attorney general under President Bill Clinton, trailed McBride, a Tampa lawyer, by about 45-43 percent

Good night. It's 3:50am here. Have to get up at 7:15am
Sweet dreams.

Its been fun but its bed time, based on my current spreadsheet numbers I'll stick by my original projection of
McBride by 20,000 to 25,000 votes.
To: FreeLibertarian
Since Reno is already within 21,000, I'll bet that the final range will be 15,000-20,000, not higher.

Since Reno is already within 21,000, I'll bet that the final range will be 15,000-20,000, not higher. Maybe, but I don't know where CBS4 is getting there numbers from, my spreadsheet doesn't have any new numbers to compare to my baseline for Collier, Desoto, Duval, Orange, St. Lucie, Sumter, or Union counties. I have to assume some of those counties will break for McBride. That will push the final numbers back over 20,000. Curently my projection is at 21,597.

My final projections for the night. I'm just looked at the Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and Broward precincts that remain.
As of 4:00 central - McBride leads by 20685 (6379/6717 precincts reporting).
23 remaining in Broward reduce lead by 1,462.
81 remaining in Palm Beach reduce lead by 4,198.
98 remaining in Miami-Dade reduce lead by 8.705.
[That accounts for 202 of the 338 remaining.]
Estimate: McBride by 6000.
