"Not so. It was a Democrat, Truman, who allowed us to get placed in a police action, instead of winning the Korean War, even after MacArthur brilliantly saved the day with the landing in Inchon. Ike got us out of a mess.

And, in 1964, it was a Democrat, Lyndon Johnson, that allowed us to get sucked into a war that was based on a totally fabricated incident, the Gulf of Tonkin incident, and then we were not allowed to fight to win. Again a Republican had to finish the job. And it ended when we finally flexed our incredible military muscle and almost bombed Hanoi and Haiphong back into the Stone Age. "

How exactly did MacArthur save the day and then get fired by Ike? And unless I'm mistaken we retreated from Vietnam and let the south be overrun. Is that how Nixon finished it?

Most of you have missed my point that we have at times engaged in failed military ventures regardless of who was in the White House, and being partisan just lets you blame it all on Democrats and Liberals and ignore the details.

Sept., 1950. Seoul was lost--we were about to be pushed off the Korean peninsula by the NK forces. MacArthur's Inchon landing behind the front NK line won the day for the US. It was later that winter and followiing spring that the war ground down, after MacArthur was fired in early 1951 for pushing for the A-bomb to be used when the Red Chinese entered the war at the end of 1950.

Nixon got us out of the Vietnam morass in Jan. 1973, and most of our forces were removed from South Vietnam in 1973. The South Vietnamese lost the following war with North Vietnam in April, 1975.

And I was not being partisan. My almost fifty years on earth have shown me that Democrats make messes and Republicans seem to have to fix them up. And history has repeated itself. The scumbag Sink Emperor neglected business for eight years, and a Republican has to clean up the mess he left behind.

"How exactly did MacArthur save the day and then get fired by Ike?"

MacArthur was pulled out of Japan to go fight the war in Korea. (yes, "WAR.") He made mistakes, too, like he was trying to actually win. Quite the radical concept for democRATs.

By the way, um, MacArthur was fired by Truman, not Ike, and it was Ike who got the cease-fire agreement from NK by promising a liberal use of the A-bomb if they didn't agree, not MacArthur.
