regarding the 20 or so murders that occurred in the late 1980's of SDI scientists and researchers, none of the murders was solved. They mostly died in spectacular fashion. Not one of the crimes was really solved. When professionals (either CIA or KGB) do the job that's the way it is.

Concerning the SDI deaths, I know a lot of guys who are software guru types. These guys live eat and breath their work. Nothing thrills them more than to get their teeth into a good project and work like a dog until it is completed. They are, for the most part, the least likely to take risks with their person. Another thing that has always struck me about these SDI scientists is that most of them were involved in top level work and were heading towards the end of their project when they met their demise, at the very time where they would be tremendously focused on their project.

Not one of the crimes was really solved. When professionals (either CIA or KGB) do the job that's the way it is. That brings up another angle on all this; suppose that these scientists were found to be helping the terrorists on some level. Would it not be prudent (in a sense) for the CIA to simply "off" them rather than go through the court system?
