CBS' Scott Pelley isn't the first person to observe that in a world of grays, President Bush sees mainly black and white. But Pelley says there are aspects about Bush's personality that might surprise some people during the president's only TV interview this Sept. 11 anniversary week -- on 60 Minutes II Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Correct. Walking up to Ron Brown's funeral. Laughing, sees cameras, wipes away tears. Classic Clinton.

Compare the speeches of Churchill or Roosevelt in WW2 with those of Hitler.

Straighten me out if I'm wrong here, but are you in any way comparing President Bush's righteous indignation at the country he loves and leads being brutally attacked by evil terrorists with the lunacy of Adolf Hitler?

Are you??? ........ because if you're not, your whole point is, well, pointless, and if you are, you are an idiot.

Thank you. Not being a CBS watcher, I would have missed this. I can't quite believe that President Bush is now being criticized for showing emotion, but, that's typical, it seems.

I actually heard FDR and Churchill make angry speeches and they were as adamant and outspoken as Bush!

Speaking of great speeches, the address President Bush made at the National Day of Prayer on September 14, 2001 (before heading up to New York and delivering his impromptu and inspired "I can hear YOU..." remarks) was absolutely brilliant.

That's very true. Since when are tears not a sign of anger?

A couple of optimistic statements here:

"...in a world of grays, President Bush sees mainly black and white.

"He sees (the war on terrorism) as a struggle between good and evil, and he sees America as the leading champion of good in the world, with a responsibility to put an end to this evil wherever it is -- way beyond Afghanistan."

God, I hope so....

If you've never cried when you were angry, you've never been truly angry.

Amen to that!

Me, too. And that is perhaps the first time I have felt this way. I came to respect Reagan and eventually to like him. However, I feel connected to W. Thank God he won!

In an interview with Brit Hume last night, Laura Bush said the Bush family cries "at the drop of a hat". When the President spoke in the days after September 11th, the First Lady said that he was very focused on maintaining his composure. As you probably remember, there were times when he still fought back the tears.

Maybe the 21st century calls for a bit of both? In the coming wars of mass destruction (of which 9/11 was only a minor assymetrical precursor attack - a warning wave) the leaders who win will be those who can muster a passion that FDR most assuredly did not have and that Churchill was only marginally embued with. Things are very different now. We are in a fight for our lives.

...Bush is a bit like President Reagan -- ''he paints the big picture but expects others to figure out the nitty-gritty''

This is pleasing to hear. Bush favorably compared to Reagan. I look forward to the interview.
