Hillary Clinton barely won against one of the worst-run campaigns in New York history, even though all the media were going all-out in her behalf and assiduously covering up all her gaffes. A good 40% of the voters hated her guts, but she still won because many New Yorkers are so liberal they would vote for Stalin in full regalia.
Also, many voters were suffering from the illusion that Hillary was well-connected to Washington, and would bring home plenty of bacon. They forgot that her husband would soon be leaving the White House.
In another six years, they will both be political has-beens. Her power mainly rested on her political alliance with her husband, who was in a good position to reward her friends and punish her enemies. Now there are too many ambitious Democrats around. They will never sit back and let bill continue to run the party by remote control when THEY see a chance to run it instead.
